Question....................what's up with PG coach allowing his players to go through pre-game shirtless???

pre-game all Gibson worries about is the TV cameras and his interviews.

So, my take on the game yesterday starts with PG has a talented group, and so does Carthage.

Any talk of Carthage having way less talent this year than in years past is a bit overblown.

Carthage is young is some places, but it didn’t keep us from winning.

Game thoughts:

We played very flat all first half and made mistakes throughout the game.  All in all we won very ugly yesterday, but found a way.

There were also multiple no calls for pass interference against PG where the refs just let it go, blatant.  The very last play of the game our LB was held and then we interfered with Jackson trying to catch the ball, no flags on either end.

One of those touchdowns in the first half for PG, massive hold against their OL that sprung the runner free, no call.

PG fans should be rejoicing there were so few flags thrown against them instead of whining about officials.

Ultimately, we were fortunate to win yesterday, because we didn’t play well at all and PG refused to use all of their players, instead relying on the QB all the time.
Carthage did however turn it on in the second half, especially on defense.

The cream rose to the top.  You could see and feel the momentum shift when we scored our third TD and were still down 28-21.

You knew it was coming, the Dawgs had finally arrived.

Well, well, well, here is my take from the game.

First, it’s a shame that this game was not televised by Ballys. A powerhouse matchup that all should had an opportunity to see. These kids delivered and this game lived up to the hype.
Both teams have the right to complain about the officiating. The officiating was horrible. However, it was horrible both ways. The only thing good about the officiating was that it was determined to let the game play out and the players and coaches decide the outcome. The only thing done well, was staying out the way.
PG HAS SOME DUDES! They have a ton of talent. At this point, due to the age of the Dawgs, PG has more talent. Gibson has won a lot and had much success. However, I think that talent was not maximized while they were there. Just my opinion. But no need to be bitter, complain, or point fingers. You guys lost to a team that made more plays than you.
THE BABY BULLDAWGS GREW UP! This team is very talented and learning on the fly. Many staffs cannot pull of what this staff is doing. To take a team this young to this level is amazing. Great job. Each week this team gets better. They are handling the growing pains and keeping this group grounded. Right now their biggest challenge and greatest asset is their youth. Too young to understand the moment and pressure and also too young to have that experience that’s needed. Which again credits the staff. The talent is there for the dogs and the future is bright. The dawgs has some studs too! Boy o Boy when they get older. Look Out!

Good question, what is that about?  Also, allowing the players to scream and curse at the Carthage players after the warm ups as they ran off of the field.   I also witnessed a PG player following an official cursing at him as they left the field.  Unbelievable!   PG used to be full of class but this group has lost that.

For those looking for stats - The Texarkana Gazette had #0 at 292 yards rushing……..They did have other Carthage players names wrong on certain plays, so some of those 292 yards might have been #22 carrying the ball.

you are spot on. My nephew coaches for Carthage and the PG players were cussing the Carthage coaches out. They don't bother reporting such behavior to Gibson because Gibson and his staff talk the same way to Surratt and company.  Surratt tried to talk to Gibson earlier in the week and he would not take his calls. Earlier in the year when Surratt was talking to him regarding their 2 your agreement to play jr. high and sub-varsity, Gibson hung up on him. They had a 2 year deal, Carthage carried their teams to PG last year. This year Gibson waited until the season started to tell Surratt that they dropped Carthage from their jr high and sub varsity schedule, then it was too late for Carthage to fill those dates. No class whatsoever.

We have the D line and linebackers to stop their running game.
Silsbee did not have a defense.
Belleville defense is legit and 99 will be a problem. He is a man among boys well over 6ft and 294 pounds.
If we make it and they make it to Jerry’s House. Surratt and Preston will have the Dawgs ready.

Remember the linebackers are young, a lot of misdirection with inexperience can show it’s head, I do think the D-Line is good, but I have also seen them take many of plays off, if we are to play Belleville it will test them. They are going to come right at you. To me eye test wise, they are bigger than GR O-line from last year.

Give it a break man. I get being biased is in your nature but try being a little realistic. That Bellville team is leap and bounds better than PG.

Hope we get to find out. If Carthage makes to the state championship my money will be on Surratt and staff.

Benny is our little hammer and I enjoy seeing him in the game.

Benny is stronger between the tackles, but Edwards is a game changer.

Benny can be too just not nearly as electric or home run threat on every play like KJ.

Benny is quickly becoming one of my favorite Dawgs.  Good things just seem to always happen when he gets the ball.  Dude's dang near automatic positive yardage.

4A D-2 most certainly it is. 4A D-1 probably middle of the pack.

When you have a 220 lb guard and a center around 200 lbs, that is middle of the pack, at best.

How many teams has Belleville played with 8 legit DI players on the same team.
To say Belleville is leaps and bounds better than PG doesn’t even make sense. Belleville has not played any team anywhere close to PG or Carthage.
They very well may win the state championship but leaps and bounds better than PG and Carthage is crazy.

Would be a shame if he grew 2 or 3 inches in the next few months.

Yeah.  Between the refs, recruiting and cheating,  Dawgs don't need any more special advantages!

He’s a cool coach.  On that note,in my almost sixty years I’ve NEVER seen a coach run through the mascot tunnel AFTER his team so it was just him in the back running through the drill team and smoke while all the assistants walked on the sideline. Every time you looked up he was standing on the track alone getting a drink of water.   He’ll say all the right things but coach is all about him!

I don’t care what anybody says. PG does not have 8 “legit” D1 players. They have some studs for 4a DII ball. Great HS players. But thats it. Maybe a couple guys will be impact players on the D1 level, but statistics say probably not.
