In regards to the officiating, 107.9 The Fan had on one of the PG announcers yesterday afternoon to discuss the game. The comment was made by one of the officials before the game in the press box that "they" were going to let the teams play. I personally think you need to call the game as it should be.

I just listened to that interview and would say they gave a pretty good nonbiased opinion on the game only thing I would disagree with was one of the guy said there were 2 questionable calls that were turning points one was on the intentional grounding and then the personal foul  it didn't have any bearing since there was only 26 sec left after all that and only got one play off after that and half ended

Although I will say pg folks openly admitting to recruiting kids cause they think everyone else does on an public interview is a bad look

He should had said the program does the recruiting by being successful. He knows no one from PG is going out and actively recruiting. You will always have some parents or friends trying to get kids to transfer schools. Have a winning program and parents will find a way to get their kids in it. No different than what is happening at other places that win.  One would be a fool to go actively recruit a kid with the technology today from cellphones. Can you imagine a coach being setup by actively recruiting a kid. It would be all over social media. I do agree it sounded bad when he said it.

For sure I knew what he meant but his wording was not very wise considering its still against the rules to transfer for athletic reason and he openly admits that's what kids are doing

Calling it like it should be?  PG would not have liked that outcome either. They got away with face masks, late hit out of bounds, pass interference, and good God the holding - the entire game!  On one play, a PG player grabbed a face mask and shook the kids head like a rag doll, right in front of the the ref and did not get called. One of the late hits out of bounds was even a helmet to helmet hit. More went PG's way than didn't. They took a 14 pt lead because of bogus calls/no calls. They are accustomed to getting preferential treatment from the guys in stripes so when something doesn't go their way they can't deal. Not a good look for their program and fans. The bottom line, they were up 14, Carthage turned the ball over 3 times and PG could not capitalize. They had no counter for Carthage's half time adjustments. I know they had proclaimed this as their year but no one is entitled to anything, you have to go out and earn it. They way their fan base is whining and pitching fits reminds me of Lampasas in 2019. I expect any day now to see a petition from the PG faithful demanding the game be replayed. SMDH

I don’t post on here much, but I couldn’t help but share this. This is ridiculous. The hashtags on one comment about Surratt, classless.

Wow, their postgame rhetoric is way worse than I thought. I mean, everybody is in agreement we paid the refs, we got all the calls, we wouldn’t have won without the refs and no wonder we win so many state championships.

I don’t know what to tell them, because it was brutally obvious PG got the most benefit out of the refs throughout the game not Carthage.

I agree we MAY have horse collared that guy and yes, we may have interfered with Jackson on their last chance play, but the no calls PG benefited from while they were on offense and defense were astounding.

And that disconcerting signals call they earned as we were in 4th & 5 from our own 20 or whatever….they should be ashamed instead of mad at the refs.  That is blatant attempted cheating not an incidental face mask or even hands to the face.  These dudes were out there yelling GO at our OL trying to get us to jump and got caught then act like being flagged for it is bad officiating.  We were surprised they got that call right, but sure glad they did.

The truth is it was bad both ways, but leaned in PG’s favor as a whole.  You can’t control the refs so you just have to play through it and it seems PG isn’t real good at that.

yeah they don't want to talk about all the Pi, face masks, late hit out of bounds, holding, etc. that they got away with the ENTIRE game. Pitiful that a fan base behaves like this.

So, the PG fans, there are way more than three or four of them making derogatory statements.

The negativity toward Carthage by PG fans is more of an epidemic than one-off encounters, like all the PG approaching Carthage fans throughout Longview after the game to tell us we didn’t win that game fairly.

PG had a two touchdown lead in the third quarter and got beat, and it wasn’t because of the refs.

Exactly!

Let them appeal to the UIL and let then UIL tell them how crazy and wrong they are. Talk about a bunch of entitled immature brats.

Yes, let the UIL review the entire game as those PG fans have requested online and when the UIL comes back and tells them there were lots of calls missed that benefited PG they’ll be even more irate.

Gibson needs to put out a video to squash it.  He was literally on camera almost daily leading up to last Fri.  After the loss………crickets.  I know he has a Sr on the team and the loss stings.  But that’s why he gets paid the big bucks.  Put your big boy pants on and do what needs to be done.  Accept responsibility for the offensive performance in the 2nd half, and the inability to adjust to the changes Carthage made at half.  Accept responsibility for the defense not making the plays to stop Carthage, especially on the 96 yard scoring drive.

Those two drives the Dawgs made in the third quarter to tie it, 28-28, were huge momentum swinging drives.

Personally, I felt when we scored the first time in the second half so quickly to make 28-21 we were going to win.

Completing that drive seemed to rouse the team.

I could not agree with you more. He is all about the media attention so he needs to man up here. But evidently he behaves just as bad as what his players were. Some of the Carthage players, instead of celebrating with their team, went over to console some PG players and one of them shoved one of the Carthage players away and tried to fight him. He had to be restrained by his team mates. Seems PG is lacking for some positive role models.

If Carthage hadn’t played so sloppy, there’s wouldn’t even be considered an issue.  Carthage beats them 21+ when they aren’t shooting themselves in the foot.  When the D finally adjusted, PG looked like a Jr High offense

you are so right. I do know that a majority of the team had the flu and it was a rough week getting ready for the game. Apparently Jett was the sickest of the group. That could of had a little bit to do with the sluggishness. But super impressed how this young team battled through and adjusted. Games like this the coaching really shines through. No one is better at adjustments that Surratt and Preston.

Now you know why kids were trying to fight refs.

yep, totally unacceptable. But seeing how the adults are behaving in the community and know how Gibson has behaved towards Carthage coaches, it seems they are lacking some positive influences in that community.

Gibson needs to tell the PG parent running the Texarkana Friday Nights Lights page to remove the posts regarding officiating. This entire saga about officials is embarrassing.

PG was just certain this was their year and when it didn’t happen they began to try to explain why it didn’t happen.

So, an easy target is performance of the officials.

Reality is Carthage got the short end of the stick on officials, played bad, had flu complications with some of the players, were down 14 in the 3rd quarter and still found a way to win.

Ok, so, that’s the last thing I’m posting on this thread.

Bring on those Buckeyes!

Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!

Too much pride them PG folks will never do that! That parent is one of the main ones complaining about the game. I told him he needs to sign up to referee. PG will be back to average pretty quickly because they are not getting all the move ins  because Gibson got into with the guy that steered them to PG! Now all the young talent is going to Texas High and we all know they can't win with just PG kids. They put everything in the basket for this year to win it all but it didn't work out! Thanks Carthage

I go you one better. The penalty call where the PG defense were barking out hut hut on 4th and five. There is no way those PG players thought to do that on their on. They were tired and wore out. I believe that was a call made by PG coach. No way those players thought to do that.

Folks have been saying PG would be average after 17 18 19 etc classes graduated. They have some young talent in the lower grades and with the facilities that are coming as well as open district...PG will be just fine. Some people put way too much into this year's team. They were a really good team, but not the best team to come through PG.
