Gilmer Bux vs Aubrey

If Gilmer comes in inspired and plays a clean game I believe they will advance. Watching Aubrey last week they didn't make a whole lot of mistakes and capitalized off of Van's mistakes. Played with a lot of short fields. Aubrey D was living in Van's backfield and makes solid tackles. Gilmer looks to have more athletes and weather shouldn't be an issue this week. Which we should be able to utilize all of our players better. Fingers crossed we can get all of our play makers in open space if the O line can buy enough time to let the plays develop.

I think this one is going to be closer than people think. My buddies who are high school coaches, have watched a lot of Aubrey games and are picking Aubrey. I have not seen anything of Aubrey so cannot say.

Well they’re probably at home watching a lot of games since their team is prolly out lol

I watched Aubrey versus Van Alstyne trying to see what kind of team Van Alstyne had. Gilmers speed will be too much for Aubrey unless Gilmer has turnovers. Aubrey tackles well and are well coached.

I feel that if the Gilmer we saw play last week comes out onto the field, we get our butts kicked.  If the team that came out and played Center, we should win.  It still won't be a "comfortable" win.  Aubrey is well coached, and we can't afford to have an "off" night, regardless.  Every team from here on out is good, and has the potential to send us home for basketball season.  I don't know about the team, but I ain't ready for round ball season.

The key to this game is coaching. If our coaches comes out with a game plan like we did last week we are getting beat. We have talent all over the place on offense but we only use two players and I dont understand.  If we can use 7,13 and 14 more it’s gonna make us that much harder to stop but we continue to force the ball to 3 and 1. They’re great players but I hate to rely on two players when we have several.

Aubrey was 2nd at the State Track Meet to Gilmer, so they also have some speed. From what I saw watching the Van / Aubrey game,  Van had open receivers throughout the game and just missed on some key connections. Gilmer defense may struggle with the Aubrey scheme.  But QB plays both ways. If Gilmer can get Aubrey in a track meet, I think they can wear Aubrey down in the 4th quarter.

Y’all do better against crappy defenses?  Center’s defense isn’t anything to gauge your offense off of.

Should be an interesting clash of styles. How are Gilmer’s linemen?

That's an interesting question. They LOOK intimidating, but they're average at best. Just don't get a big push and no nasty guys on that line that like to punish their opponent. At least I didn't see any against Sunnyvale.

No, I am not gauging those two defenses. Sunnyvale had a much better defense than Center, no doubt about that.  I was just saying we came out as flat as a pancake, and it took forever for us wake up and play.  Our offense could've done better had we not have been flat emotionally.

Some of them are either in denial or just flat out delusional 😂

You could be right, but that ain't me.  I know who we are and what we're capable of.  We were FLAT emotionally.  We are not a good enough team to overcome that going forward.  Every team we play will be very good from here on out.

We scored 59 points against y'all, and 41 against Sunnyvale.  The O-line does their job more times than not.  They "could" be nastier for sure because most of them are very large.  I would settle for effective more than nasty any day that ends in "y".

By the way, all three of the teams that Gilmer lost to are still playing, with a total record of 33-3.  That's a testament to the strength of schedule.  This also marks 17 straight seasons that Gilmer has played over the Thanksgiving holidays.  That's a testament to consistency.

Aubrey will certainly be a tough team to overcome, for sure.  We should be prepared.  For those who don't know, Aubrey was the team that we beat by 1 point to win state in track last year, so the Chaps definitely have speed.

You also got 62 put on you by Prosper Walnut Gove who was not even eligible for the playoffs this year as they are first year program that is not part of a district and consisted of 95% underclassmen, so basically a JV.  And don't try to flex by saying you scored 82, you shouldn't of had to.  I know, I know you are a totally different team now that no-one can beat and are to.be feared.

And by the way, the only streaks and consistency that really count right now are the ones that end with a trophy in late December.
