Already said I have been very critical of the defense and the coaching this year, and rightfully so, but they deserve credit for grinding away and getting better, although still nowhere as good as they should be. Maybe you should learn to read before running off at the mouth.

I didn’t think they had a prayer . Mostly everyone did , but I am so glad they did it. Gilmer fan by default I suppose.

Nope. Born, raised, and played for Gilmer. Been to hundreds of Gilmer games over the decades, I just call it like it is. The defense has allowed more points than any other defense in Gilmer's history as far as I know. They coaches have made some huge mistakes during the season, like getting out coached and schemed and almost beat by Sunnyvale, a team that should have been beaten by 3 or 4 TD's.

But, they do get some credit for continuing to work and adjust and they proved that they can scheme a good game against a great opponent. 

I gave them a 5% chance of winning Friday, and that was only if Carthage played terrible and Gilmer played lights-out and got some breaks. I was wrong and I'm glad I was.

I went for the first hour, but had to leave.  Heard it lasted two hours.

While I was there, SS praised Gilmer, saying they have some super athletes and good coaches.

SS also said he made some poor offensive play calls and our effort wasn’t what it should’ve been, especially on defense, and he took responsibility for not having the boys playing as hard as they could every play.

Surratt said this was a very difficult loss to take, but we will pick ourselves up and be excited to try again next season.

I have no doubt they will be back while he's there at Carthage - a good combo. As I told my wife at the time, when Jeff Traylor coached Gilmer (she was from Washington state, so she was really getting an indoctrination to "sports coach wife world"), there are coaches that will not accept bad results because those losses (L's) go beside their name, and one way or another, they last forever, and you want to represent your community in a great way and your family name in a great way and not ever be embarrassed.

ya know if Gilmer coach is so smart why did let the game even go to ot?

At that point he literally put those young men  opportunity  to be in semis(Buckeyes) at risk because of very poor coaching by him and the coaching staff.
