Carthage averages 6 TDs (43 points) a game.

Gilmer averages giving up 5 TDs (35 points) a game.

That seems to indicate that Carthage will score at least its average Friday.

One of my predictions is that Carthage’s #0 gets over 200 yards(running + receiving) and #22 gets over 50 yards.
I think Little B will throw the ball the usual amount early, then more running the last 3 quarters - unless Gilmer pulls a Center and has 10-11 men within 5 yards of ball.

Believe me when I say this…….Gilmer’s top 4 guys(that are starters) are definitely faster than Carthage’s top 4………And even as a big Carthage fan, I will say, it is not even close.

Pleasant Grove’s #1 and #2 were head and shoulders better athletes than any athlete Carthage had and yet Carthage won.

PG’s QB #2 has some otherworldly acceleration and lateral movement

Where do I say outmatch I simply agreed with a Carthage fan in what he said. This year our WR are better than y’all secondary and it’s not close but will we have the time to get the ball to them is the question. Don’t act like this is the Carthage secondary of late these guys are young and still learning. If I was Gilmer I would load the box and make Jett beat me cause I wasnt overly impressed by him yesterday at all his arm talent isn’t like the last couple of QBs yall have had.

From what I saw Carthage’s QB arm was not an issue whatsoever— the receivers dropping passes was the issue. I saw at least 6-7 key passes dropped, 2 of which would have been a score. The QB dropped like a 50 yard Dime into one receivers hands and WR just dropped it. QB play looked solid to me. He doesn’t look fast at all but had 1 scramble that was crucial and looked a lot more elusive than I thought he would

Dude your comprehension skills are 0 you definitely don’t read what is being said. Nobody is saying Gilmer is going to win because the defense isn’t very good but I would definitely take the QB beating me other than let 0 run for 400 yards

#0 runs angry and I love it BUT man…. He put the ball on the ground I swear like 4 times in the game versus PG. That could be an issue going forward

Well, #0 from Carthage has an offer from Georgia for a reason….lol.
The other poster said Gilmer had no advantage anywhere, so I made the speed comment.
#2 for P G is fast, but #1 for Gilmer is quiet a bit faster - state champion 100 meters last spring by about 0.3 over 2nd place.

That’s impressive speed. I’m not sure #2s top end speed for PG but his acceleration was insane.

#2 is a really good athlete.  Sometimes he seems very hard to tackle and then others he gets sacked rather easily.
I don’t remember #1 doing much the other day.

Hard to tackle - first half into a little of the 2nd.
Easier to tackle - after he got tired from playing offense, defense a lot, and I think some special teams.

To add to that…..#0 for Carthage had the hardest game of his varsity career - most yardage and pretty sure the most carries.
Some people watching him for the first time might say he fumbles too much.  Not normally the case and him getting hit hard several times and him getting tired probably led to a couple of those fumbles.

Carthage

Thanks. I usually sit on the home side  95% of the time at 🌹 Stadium. I didn't want to sit on a side where people are going to complain about the officials the game. Saying they are cheating. 😆

Carthage fans, including myself, will yell about a questionable(or bad) call that goes against Carthage.  But never heard them/us complain the whole game.
P G had a grown man with a megaphone(or whatever you call the battery operated things like Sargeant Carter on TV used) that complained most every play - even encouraged the fans to yell with him in a chant to the refs).

Yeah, that was quite ridiculous.

I noticed he was on the kickoff team at least once, which probably means he was on it for all 6 kickoffs by PG.

Yeah, yesterday we were apparently playing the most talent laden team in the state and now it sounds like Gilmer is right behind them in speed and we’re not nearly as fast.

Uggh

Jett did not play his best game yesterday, but he has way plenty of talent and can get the ball to our receivers, who also played poorly yesterday.

Carthage played nowhere near to its potential yesterday.

I remember Surratt saying years ago in a game they won that they played the worst they have ever played, after that.. they went on to win state easily. For a lot of people they might want to be afraid some because Carthage has gotten better each week, but still have not played their best ball. When they do, it’s going to be something special to watch.

I think we all get caught in the game to much to actually realize what these kids and Surratt and company have managed to do this season is something very very special.

I am absolutely blown away how a team with so many sophomores are so amazing.

It is a special thing to see, something that doesn’t happen very often.

Surratt said it best this last week during his post-game interview “The program showed today”. Good sophomores is great. Good sophomores with heart and resilience.. that’s special.
