#0 runs angry and I love it BUT man…. He put the ball on the ground I swear like 4 times in the game versus PG. That could be an issue going forward

Pleasant Grove was stripping it and hitting hard. Pleasant Grove defense is way above Gilmer's. I'm not worried at all with Edwards fumbling it moving forward. Carthage is facing a totally different defense this week. Carthage has pass plays that allow their QB to get rid of it quickly. Gilmer's #1 is their only hope, but I feel Carthage will adjust to his speed pretty quick.

To add to that…..#0 for Carthage had the hardest game of his varsity career - most yardage and pretty sure the most carries.
Some people watching him for the first time might say he fumbles too much.  Not normally the case and him getting hit hard several times and him getting tired probably led to a couple of those fumbles.

No doubt!

Carthage fans, including myself, will yell about a questionable(or bad) call that goes against Carthage.  But never heard them/us complain the whole game.
P G had a grown man with a megaphone(or whatever you call the battery operated things like Sargeant Carter on TV used) that complained most every play - even encouraged the fans to yell with him in a chant to the refs).

I was laughing at that guy the whole time. That was a fantastic game!

Hey if you think Henderson is our only weapon you’re wrong. The issue will be with the defense I think our offense will move the ball. This will be the first team that will test Carthage back end with the vertical passing game.

This is the exact reason I don't like PG.  Not all of them, but there are so many of their fans that know absolutely nothing about football.  It irks me to no end when they get the benefit of the calls throughout a game, yet when they get called for an obvious penalty they boo the refs.  I saw them get away with PI, holding, and taunting on a bunch of plays when we played them.  The boos are not just here and there, it's throughout.  If the refs would call all the penalties against them, they would rarely be able to overcome them.  That's usually the same for any team.  Yes, they had a better team than us when we played them.  No doubt about it, but them booing obvious penalties just didn't sit right with me.

First of all, I am obviously a Buckeye fan. Sadly, we just plain get outcoached when we play Carthage.  I don't know how to get that fixed.  Preston's defense stops us before we can even find any sort of rhythm.  We will have to figure out ways to get scores, and several of them.  The Carthage offense usually just mashes and gashes us throughout the game.  We will have to get stops on regular basis..., something we haven't done well for most of this year.  We are definitely an improved team defensively, but we're not the same level as Preston, in my opinion.

There are several players for Gilmer that require attention from athletic and fundamentally sound defensive players.  Yes, our #1 will be the fastest player on the field, for sure, but it won't matter if we can't get him past at least the first level of the defense.  The other players are #3, #7, #13, #11, and #14 (when he is out there).  I just wish we played the vertical game more if that is what the defense is giving, provided we can give #11 time to throw, and I also wish there were a way to get #14 in space.  He should be on the field all the time, in my opinion.  He's probably the 2nd fastest player on the team.  I'm not the coach, and I'm sure there is a reason for it, but I'm just saying.

I am hoping we can at least give Carthage a good test, and not get blown out on the field.  Maybe, just maybe, we can keep the score respectable......., or am I being too cocky and arrogant?!!🫢

Always seem to be good games between these 2 regardless of their records. Good luck to your Bucks. Not sure that they'll need any luck according to sportsguru

Well according to the Gilmer broadcasters they have this in the bag. 'This Carthage teams is not the great Carthage teams of the past and they match better with Carthage this year than they ever have.'  LOL.  Oh well Carthage, it was a great run.

I don't think I have the stomach for the amount of trash talking that will happen in this thread this week. LOL.

The Gilmer media crew is legendary statewide

Maybe Guru is one of the two voices of the Buckeyes?

lololol I didn't know if the broadcast was as bad as people were saying, then I tuned in at the start of the 3rd quarter.....Ohhhhhhh my, everyone was 100% correct in their assessment. Every other comment literally was like "How's that a flag, where's the flag on that play, You can't be serious about that hold, etc etc". MUCH better when I turned the sound off, though.

It’s ironic that the law firm that sponsors the Gilmer broadcasts are back to back Hall of Fame inductees, back to back Trucking law firm of the year, etc. and they have the JV B team calling the games.  I expect the commentary Fri night to be full of great quotes.

They are legendary alright.  They are most definitely homers.  I don't think they really believe half of what they say.  Most Buckeye fans know what we are up against.  Preparation meets opportunity, though.  We will have both, but we appear to be overmatched in this one.........again.  Surratt's offense and Preston's defense are second to none.  It will take a monumental effort, both from the players, and the coaches, with lots of lucky breaks, to have any palpable chance at a win in this one.  YES, I am a Buckeye fan for life, but I have no illusion of what we are up against.

Let's go Buckeyes!

There are no givens.

Pleasant Grove should have won on Friday.  They did not take care of business and take advantage of all the miscues from the Dawgs.

Carthage has to protect the ball better.  I know Edwards had a great game, and he was the biggest weapon on offense, but the ball cannot hit the turf four times.  Throws have to be better, and when they are catches have to be made.  This team cannot waltz to a championship without playing their best week in and week out.  I'm not dogging anyone.  I am just stating that realistically there are a few teams out there that will take advantage of a poor performance and send us home.

That said, I think they will play better.  There's usually one of these games, if not more, during each playoff run for the Dawgs.  I look for a big improvement this week.

The interview of the Gilmer coach is done by only one guy…..but the guy might change from week to week………one of the game announcers also does the interview - I sure hope he is the one doing it this morning or tomorrow……..If he does, 99% chance he says at least one thing off the wall.

If you look back at the title runs, there always seems to be one game that the Dawgs steal a win when they probably shouldn’t have won bc of all the self inflicted wounds. They normally follow those games up looking like bonafide championship contenders. I hope that’s the case this week.
