The Gilmer Buckeyes and Glen Rose Tigers play for a trip to the state final. Gilmer coming off a huge win against Carthage. Glen Rose upset West Plains. The Buckeyes are much more balanced offensively, Glen Rose is pretty much a passing team. Gilmer is more explosive and much faster, and has played a much stronger schedule. Gilmer defensively will need to limit the Tiger passing attack and put pressure on the quarterback. What say ye?

Is GR as good as last year? Did they have a tough pre district? I remember that Qb was amazing gave Carthage all they wanted. Made them trail.

I think at 10-4, they are a little down from last year. They played a decent preseason schedule and went 1-4. Overall strength of schedule isn’t good, but their QB is having a great year.

Need to pressure the GR QB and challenge the receivers at the line of scrimmage.  Glen Rose has a great passing game.  We have to eliminate our turnovers.  This is the time of year where turnovers keep you from advancing (C-Dawgs can relate).  Do not gift the other team extra chances on offense.  Have to let our defense catch their wind and get some quick coaching up on the sideline, rather than keeping them on the field excessively.

I think this will be another good game. GR looks to be a scrappy bunch from the games I have watched. They sure like to pass the ball around. Just have to apply pressure on the QB and limit the big plays. They got behind pretty good in that Seminole game, but figured some stuff out and came back to win by couple TDs. Need to make sure we keep good coverage. With that being said I like Gilmers chances. Go Bux!!

What are we basing strength of schedule on? Are you well versed or just spouting off from ignorance and prejudice?

I am not trying to pick a fight, you could be right. I just want to know what you based this on.

I would say it actually filled the tank and gave the confidence they need to finish this!

I agree that win should build these guys up a lot. I been hearing all year these guys are hungry and want it bad. So far they are doing what they need to 1 game at a time. They have come a long way.

The teams that have given Gilmer the most trouble this year are teams with running QBs. If Gilmer can put consistent pressure on the QB, and he’s not a huge scrambler, I like Gilmer’s chances.  One thing I know for sure:  I’m leaving for this game a lot earlier than I did the last time Gilmer played at Prosper. The traffic around the stadium was horrendous.

Well versed. I was going off Maxpreps strength of schedule for both teams. Gilmer has definitely played the tougher schedule out of both teams. Take Maxpreps for what it’s worth, using computers for certain HS sports sometimes backfires. I do know Glen Rose has been playing great the last few weeks, and their passing game will definitely present a challenge. Gilmer’s secondary will definitely need to step it up this week. With that being said, I think Gilmer’s speed in the open field will be the difference and they pull away late.
