I mean 5 have been dropping balls don’t act like it’s a surprise. Also maybe these big games were to much pressure for them cause they dropped several the week before.

5 was no stranger to big games. If I recall correctly, he blistered Gilmer last year in Rd 3. In this game,  Surratt pretty much put the ball where it needed to be, and the receivers simply dropped the ball. Uncharacteristic of a team of that caliber.

Carthage #5 this season wore #88 last season.  #5 from 2022 is now playing baseball for Texas A&M.

Just listened to the Gilmer Coach’s Show with the Gilmer radio guys & Coach Metzel that was posted Mon.  I have been very critical of them in the past due to stupid things they say.  Gotta tip my cap to them for a job well done on this show.  Very respectful show and classy comments on Surratt, Jett, Carthage coaches, players, fans, etc.  If you have not listened you should.

This game may have well over 100 points scored in it.

We wouldn't have it any other way this year lol...This game could be a shootout for sure. I think we will get enough stops to seal this one. GR is scrappy and I expect it to be a good game.

If the Gilmer coaches come up with the right game plan/scheme and the Buckeyes execute it, the Buckeyes win.

If they don't, it will be like when we played Sweetwater in 2016 in Waco. Glen Rose will pick us apart even though we are more athletic and have more speed.  Caveat, didn't matter who won that game, WOS was the best team in 4A in 2016.

Glen Rose is a very well coached team and disciplined. We have them out matched for athletes and speed. It's up to the coaches to come up with the right game plan and make the adjustments needed.

And it's up to the Buckeyes to make the plays on defense which they have shown they can, when it counts.  The Buckeyes showed some resilience on defense against Carthage, despite the struggles all year.  And let's not forget, Carthage still scored 44 points, but the Buckeyes won.

Glen Rose is going to score some points, simple as that. Their passing attach is fantastic and they just keep coming with it. Thankfully, they don't have a running QB, which is a HUGE advantage to Gilmer. Glen Rose defense won't be able to keep Buckeyes out of the endzone, but they will be able to get some stops. They are that disciplined.

I think it it's a close game till the 4th quarter when Gilmer goes up by 10+ points and the game is over.

If the Gilmer coaches do their homework and the Buckeyes execute it without any turnovers and hopefully without any referee problems (the refs have been all over the place this season) Gilmer wins.

Safe travels to all .

How many games has Gilmer not had a turnover this year?  I think that’s a given.  At least one anyway.  They can still play through that assuming the defense continues to improve and the changes made on the backend for Carthage game continue this week.  I think this game will be like the Carthage vs Glen Rose game last year.   It will be a good one.  Rooting for the Bux to get it done.

Gilmer went six straight games without a turnover this year, if memory serves.  But, yes, the Buckeyes will fare much better if they don't turn the ball over, obviously.  We have been able to overcome them thus far in the playoffs, but we also need to cause turnovers, and get some stops defensively.  Offensively, we need to be on point, and get into a rhythm early.  There's no doubt we can do that.  Will we?  We'll see.  Someone said the QB doesn't run, therefore is not a dual threat.  That's hogwash.  He is fully capable of taking off.  We will definitely have to contain him, keep him in the pocket, apply pressure, and have a spy that can keep him from taking off.  The spy must be a really good tackler.

Well, I am going to have to bring the tinkers dang hex with me again this week.  This batch certainly looks promising.

Go Buckeyes!

I like the Buckeyes in this one.  Glen Rose is too one-dimensional with the pass which means Gilmer can pretty much gameplan them defensively for stops.  The Glen Rose QB Evans has thrown for over 4200 yds in 14 games this season, but he's also thrown 18 interceptions.  The Tigers as a team have only rushed for right at 1250 yds in 14 games.....so there ya go.  The Buckeyes are waaay more balanced offensively to keep the Tiger D off-balance. This should equate to better scoring potential and more scoring opportunities for the Buckeye offense from the Buckeye defense......whether from stops or turnovers.  Gilmer should win this game by 2+ Tds.....IMHO.
