someone did a mock of realignment and just look at 4A-D2 district 8 😭, obviously the UIL will most likely not let this happen but what a district. 8 beats 7 4-0 first round of playoffs

Never know with the uil. They had High Island and Cushing in a district at one point. What they do hardly makes sense and isn't logical.

High Island was an outlier, there really wasnt a good place to put them when they tried 11man

I seem to recall that Amarillo Tascosa unsuccessfully petitioned the UIL to play down a class some years ago.

It’s good to know that it has been tried. Even if it was unsuccessful. I would think that some schools because of distance or participation numbers. I do remember a private school that stopped playing football because they put them in 6a when they didn’t have to numbers for it.

It was a charter school Fort Worth YMLA...ironically a year after that the UIL changed how they count it...example is now San Antonio YMLA which is going to play 3A-D2 in 2023 after playing 4A-D2 the last two alignment cycles

This link has the opt up schools listed and DeSoto is not on it ( if you look at garland both lakeview centennial and Naaman forest are listed as 6A and have numbers below 2275) So can they or would they want to opt up at this point?

Desoto opting up? i haven't seen that.. interesting. You would think they have proven themselves.  That way south Dallas could have 5A-D2, 5A-D1 and 6A champs.

They want to stay in the area and not have to drive out to East Texas. They did the same thing back 5a was the largest class. The Rockwall schools did the same thing. That was the two years where East Texas had to do the double round robin with the a four team district.

The garland schools is nothing new. They been doing that for years now. So much to the point that they don’t even get looked at as schools that would be in 5a anymore.
