On the flip side. Belleville Defense shut out Gilmer in the 2nd half. Something that Carthage could not do. I agree Carthage offense was better but their Defense was not on the same level. I know most on here are East Texas homers but this game could have gone either way. The last play call worked out because of the extraordinary effort by #1 but was not a good call. Don’t get it twisted the Belleville defense was in position to make the tackle (4 broken tackles by #1) and then go down and kick a game winning FG. Great game but if you are going to make excuses for and underthrown pass that could have been a TD you need to point out the bone headed pass the other QB had that should have been a TD for Belleville. Be happy about your 4th championship!!!

What were the second half stats, excluding the one TD drive bellville had because I think you, “have it twisted”. Belleville’s offense did nothing the second half(from a look and feel pov). I doubt they would have got within field goal range IF they got the  back. The defense wasn’t giving much up that second half.

Gilmer held Bellville to 77 yards in the 2nd half including just 8 in the 4th quarter.

I don’t agree. This game could have gone either way and this was a pretty even matchup. Gilmer won the turnover battle. Belleville Defense shut out the Bucs in the 2nd half. Something Carthage couldn’t do. Gilmer ran up and down the field on Carthage. I didn’t see PG play this year but the Bellevillle defense is on a whole different level than Carthage.

This game and Carthage game was different. This game Gilmer played more ball control. I don’t think their defense is a different level as Carthage at all.

This picture has a story within the story.  #1 in action as the MVP. #99 standing flat footed in the background watching.

Yep!  99 plays hard and then takes plays off.

Yes.  The highlights from the previous 15 games didn’t show those plays.  When he decides he wants to go 100%, he is tough to block even with a double.  Super athletic for someone of his size.  If he ever decides to give maximum effort on more plays, 😳

Not sure he lived up to the "hype" 😲 I know 100% Mack did when Gilmer-Gladewater played at Lobo (I was there)

I still think that Mack got that first down!! 🤨

I agree.  We ended up down on that end of the field where the infamous play took place by accident.  We got there too late and most the seats were filled on the home side.  Dang ticket line!  But we had a “down the line” view of that play and I think he got it too.

This may be the first season that Gilmer got better in each game. Normally Gilmer is wide open by the fourth or fifth game.
This year you could tell, they were getting better each game.
Congrats to coaches and players on both sides of the ball.

I thought our defensive line had more game defining plays than Bellville or #99. 2pt conversion stop, blocked field goal, 3rd down stops. Heck the 4th down stop right before their last score. Although the questionable penalty turned that one over.

But let the analysts tell it #99 ate our offenses lunch. I don’t know much though, I’m no analyst hahaha.

That 2 point conversion was stopped by Gilmer’s front four consisting of 3 Sophomores and a Freshman! 👀

Promising future for those guys… Bellville O line was also mostly sophomores as well. I think next year 4A D2 is gonna be really tough. Especially with China Spring moving back down and the addition of Brock and Lorena

Yes them to… I forgot. Can’t wait to see what realignment brings us as far as districts go… It’s weird that Bellville is Region 3 in football… but region 4 in every other sport
