That game just snowballed on Gilmer.

One of a few times that the Buckeyes were not able to match up well or rise to the occassion and run with the Dawgs.  Hey, it happens.  Especially if you routinely play great teams.  Just bound to happen some years.  Glad to pass the crown on to another unfortunate team.  That Carthage-over-Gilmer score remains with us forever though.

Speaking of Jax, I couldn’t help but notice it made “top 10 worst places to live in Texas”. I guess they’ll be changing the name to “Jacksonvilla” soon.

Look who the story comes from ….  a real estate company? Came out with some questionable stats, our town is growing business wise. Not sure where he got his stats, he doesn’t even cite a reliable source for the data.  I guess it’s true because it’s on the internet. LOL! What about this Top 20 Worst From MoneyInc…no JVille …. but Houston and Lubbock make the list… these lists are so arbitrary.

Be careful what you believe. We love it here, Jacksonville is a great place to live.

Come on now. Why do you hate Mathis so much?

How much time you got?

It actually has little to do with his departure to Desoto.  Everyone knew that was inevitable.

It was all the troubles he caused his successor after he left.  The 💩 he caused the MHS staff was mind boggling.

Marshall doesn't have the athletes that Desoto has.

Not many schools in the entire state has the talent DeSoto has.

No one in ETX.....Longview probably would be the only one to even come close.  3 recent state titles is something to be pretty excited about.

While Longview does have good athletes. They don't have the type of athletes Desoto, Duncanville, or North Shore has.

Speaking of J'ville, we lived/coached in Rusk for 4 years and had to go there for Wal-Mart or most anything else and I didn't think much of the place myself. That was 1998-2003 and it just seemed to be run down and not much going on. Wal-Mart after dark seemed pretty sketch at best!! Seems much different now, quite a few new businesses and new ones going in. Seems the town is actually growing a little!

The amount of talent in that general area is crazy. I read an article recently, about the number of athletes that played on NFL teams at some point from this area (all of these schools are within 12 miles of one another). Basically SOC and the southern suburbs of Dallas is a hotbed.

DeSoto - 22

SOC - 25

D'Ville - 8 -10

Cedar Hill is close by and also produces a lot of talent as well, they just haven't been as successful recently since Joey McGuire departed.

I can't find the source article now but those are some ridiculous numbers.
