That would be great!

Don't know if Celina would do it though.

Celina has tried to play Gunter several times, but they always turned it down until now.

True.....mainly because of lower levels.  But also a little unfair.

They are not far off -- they missed by six kids. There is a like an 85 percent chance they go up next time.

You right, I still have the mock numbers on the brain for some reason.

Does Gunter have the numbers to go up to Big School 3A

They have had the numbers to move up for a few years now, it’s just on snapshot day enough of those pesky transfers get un-enrolled for a few days to stay under.

Yeah it's crazy how that in the two months since Snapshot Day, the high school enrollment shot all the way up to.....oh they dropped two kids and are down to 361

I guess they forgot to re-enroll all those pesky extra kids

You keep being the shill you are for Gunter for your newspaper.  Grab a copy of the yearbooks from the past few years and count how many have been in each class hoss.  I’ll wait while you lick Jake’s boots some more Jason.   That or just keep your head in the sand.  Insiders from the ISD that have no ties to the school will gladly tell you what they did two years ago.  Ask around if you are a true reporter.

You can literally look at the month-to-month enrollment and see there is no irregularity. There is no spike in either direction that can be attributed -- from october 2022 to october 2023 the high school dropped nine kids to what they turned in.

Counting heads in yearbooks? That's the smoking gun and no one's used that to take down a dynasty. I have heard all sorts of stuff in regards to this topic and my response is the same -- show me hard evidence that proves Gunter has done anything to manipulate enrollement. Not a coach told a coach told his friends stuff. Text messages, emails, not hearsay or sour grapes. Not somthing people think is wrong but is within the guidelines the UIL allows.

I can't just go around spouting stuff just because this person says it or that person believes it. I'd like to not be sued and keep my job.

Gunter has no reason to cheat in order to stay down at D2.  Gunter played and beat Brock 35-12 this year.  Brock lost the state semifinal in 3AD1 to Malakoff 38-31 - who went on to beat Franklin in the state championship 14-7.  Gunter would have been right in that mix at D1 just the same.  Risking getting caught cheating to avoid moving up to D1 when they would clearly be just as competitive makes absolutely zero sense.  It's just the same story with any successful program.  The accusations of cheating come with the territory.  We are used to it at this point.  It's actually flattering that there are people out there that cannot fathom how Gunter can have such a good program without cheating.  There is zero evidence of it, but the accusations are ultimately nothing more than flattery.

I don’t disagree with you, but they’ve always talked a lot of trash, but never would play. So I guess they are now.

I could be wrong. My rememberer is getting worse each year. But doesn’t subvarsity play Celina fairly regularly? I know that next year’s seniors played Celina as 7th or 8th graders and lost. I think a subvarsity team played Celina this past season and won. I understand that’s not varsity, but despite some people’s misguided opinions, they are the same kids that move onto the varsity team.
