Is Texas going to be desperate enough at WR to bring in Evan Stewart?

I don't know how I feel about that.

Stewart is talented but I sort of don't want him at the same time.

We got Golden from UH in the portal, so there's something. Cook will make the biggest leap on the entire team next year IMO. Wingo is good enough to play in rotation as a true freshman. Deandre Moore is pretty interesting and Niblett's speed in the slot alone makes him another interesting player. He was 10.4 in the 100m in HS.

If Im Jalen Hale, I seriously reconsider being at Bama. He's Day one starter at Texas. And he'll actually have a QB to get him the ball.

ESPN’s way too early poll has Texas pre-season ranked at #2 behind Georgia.  Thoughts?

Aren't they losing a bunch?

Not saying they don't have depth, but it seems odd to suggest losing so many weapons will make them somehow better, especially since they'll be competing in a tougher league.

All depends on how they replace the pass catchers.

They'll return a 3rd year Qb, 4/5 OL, their best blocking TE, and  both RBs on offense. They should be able to run the ball until the passing game settles in.

On defense they’ll lose 2DTs, 1 LB, 1CB, and 2 safeties. The DTs will be by far the biggest loss. On defense as a whole while they lose some experience, they should be much more athletic.

With the transfer portal, Texas and every other team won’t know what they have for several more months.  That being said, Georgia, Alabama, and other top notch programs always lose good players to the NFL or just out of eligibility.   QB is the best position to have coming back(if he is a good one) and Texas looks to be checking that box.  Number 2 is about right, if you have to do a poll now.

Final AP Top 25 Poll Stunningly Drops Alabama to No. 5 (msn.com)

ha ha, suck it Tide and Dogs

Final AP Top 25 Poll

Rank, Team, Record, Points (First)

  1. Michigan 15-0, 1,525 (61)
  2. Washington 14-1, 1,459
  3. Texas 12-2, 1,356
  4. Georgia 13-1, 1,328
  5. Alabama 12-2, 1,321
  6. (tie) Oregon 12-2, 1,175
  7. (tie) Florida State 13-1, 1,175
  8. Missouri 11-2, 1,092
  9. Ole Miss 11-2, 1,030
  10. Ohio State 11-2, 1,006
  11. Arizona 10-3, 861
  12. LSU 10-3, 853

Hook'em - I only added a partial list. You can click the link

My teams of the year:

  • Michigan: an obvious choice...overcame adversity, whether it was caused by their own efforts to be "sneaky".
  • Texas: it was a great season and yet a season where you look at it like the 2010 BCS game against Alabama, where it was so close it was painful. Being a competitor (coach), sometimes the idea you didn't have a chance was better than a couple small mistakes or an injured player or two away from a truly special championship season.
  • Missouri
  • Arizona
  • Washington
  • Florida State: until Jordan Travis got injured, then they were pretty okay.

If I believed in Ewers then I could get on the hype train more.

You don’t think he’ll continue his trajectory? Year 2 was much better than year 1 for Ewers. You think he’ll regress in year 3 or do you think he’s topped out?

Honestly curious on your thoughts…unless you’re trolling then ok.

I think he has spurts where he looks like a day 1 nfl guy, but then he has stretches when he just looks average.

I just don’t see a massive improvement in year 3 with him losing all of his playmakers.

That’s just my opinion though and the transfer portal does exist so it might not be an issue.

I gotcha and totally possible, as you said with the skill departures.

Usually ever year but this year they actually may have warranted it . The horns should be very good coming into next year. I bet they have a good chance against Michigan next year. Michigan probably loses a lot and their coach.

Order of worry for me - DTs….DBs…..WRs……DE/Edge…..TE…..Big drop off to next…..RB……OL….LBs…...kicking game…..QB

At this point anyone Texas adds in the portal will require one player plus two more to be ushered to the portal. At this point Texas is two above the limit without Sanborn declaring. Add Foster, a possible flip, CJ Daniels and Jamaree Caldwell and we're looking at four more portals off the team. Who would that be? We're eating into good talent at that point.

You'll have guys leave after the spring game when depth charts start to materialize.  Everybody will.
