Proud of him no matter what...  but also annoyed that he's coming off the bench. He's clearly the best RB on the roster. I don't know why we're acting like he's some wet-behind-the-ears rookie who has to learn the ropes. He needs to be starting and getting 15-20 touches per game.

I don' think our offense will be consistent enough to beat Tennessee. I think it will be a close first half with Tennessee pulling away late.

I just don't see how we score more against Tennessee than we did against Houston. They will provide ample pressure with three linemen rather easily, which will free up a linebacker/end to spy the QB. Arnold will finish with negative rushing yards. Sawchuck/Barnes/Taylor will combine for less than 50 yards on 20+ carries. Arnold will also have a minimum of two interceptions, possibly another pick-six. We might not break 100 total passing yards.  

Defensively, we actually match up well with Tennessee and I think (with a better offense) we could hold them under thirty points. But alas, we will go three-and-out 10 to 15 times. Thus, the defense will be on the field for nearly forty minutes. That's too much to ask any defense. Even if the game starts close, the Vols will simply wear us out down the stretch. 

Tennessee wins 47-13.

(3-0) There's no reason for the first three games to be close. The main thing I'll be hoping to get out of these games is plenty of touches for Lobo alum Taylor Tatum.

WIN: Tennessee
(4-0) OU vs. UT-Knoxville will have a lot of buildup ("Ermahgerd, Heupel goes back to Norman!") but it's all a big letdown. Josh lost his superstar QB and is rebuilding a meh defense. Jackson Arnold ignites some too-early Heisman talk when he picks apart the Vols secondary. OU starts 4-0 and Sooner fans start making playoff reservations. ESPN talking heads get on board the hype train, all of it setting up the inevitable fall from hype...  

LOSE: Auburn
(4-1) Meh, I guess there's no shame in losing to Auburn at Jordan-Hare. It's our first real SEC road test, and even the great Satan had hiccups winning here. But I think this is a decisive loss that snaps our fans back to reality and pops the foolish playoff bubble. 

LOSE: Red River Shootout
(4-2) After last season's shocking comeback/upset whatever you wanna call it Sooner win, I guarantee Sark pulls out all the stops to win this game. I bet they're adding wrinkles and looks that will only exist during this game. It's foolish for anyone to predict this game, but go ahead and put me on record for UT to take this one, regardless of who's favored or "looks better" going in.

WIN: South Carolina
LOSE: Ole Miss
(5-3) Feast then famine. We'll enjoy a solid win over a former assistant, only to be demolished the following week. Welcome to life in the SEC. 

WIN: Maine
(6-3) A great chance to rest starters and heal up a bit headed into a crucial stretch of the season. And again: Welcome to life in the SEC. 

WIN: Missouri
(7-3) Call me crazy, but the more I look at Mizzou the more they look like <ahem> a paper tiger. Yeah, I know they've assembled some talent and Drinkowitz is getting all kinds of off-season love, but I just don't buy it. I think OU gets an upset win by a surprising margin. 

LOSE: Alabama
LOSE: Louisiana State 
(7-5) Too much talent disparity. We've come a long way since the former guy, but we're not quite ready to go toe-to-toe with these guys, back to back. I think we'll play them tough early on, but both teams will pull away after halftime. 

I'm seeing us go 7-5 to start in the SEC. Not great, but decent enough to garner a bowl game. I don't expect to hear any more OU playoff talk after the RRS loss.

(3-5) Looks like the "revenge of the former Sooner staffers" tour will continue when Beamer's boys give us a good pantsing in front of a rapidly dwindling home crowd. 

LOSE: Missouri
(4-7) I still think Mizzou is overhyped. Unfortunately, we're even more so. They're gonna stomp the piss out of us and there's nothing we can do about it.

Ehh I think we still have a shot against Missouri and LSU.

We just have to get to the bye week at 4-2 and hope to get healthier.

I’m frustrated with it, but at the same time I don’t know if can judge it fairly let. 
 

Auburn had zero respect for any Oklahoma receiver today. 
 

The OL looked better, but we won’t be able to run the ball until we get teams out of 7 and 8 man boxes.

Even if he starts cold, thanks to several three-and-outs he'll have plenty of opportunities to get into the flow of things. 

Auburn sucks, even at home. That was a fun win, sure, but it has zero bearing on RRS. The fact that it took a heaping dose of "Sooner Magic" to beat them does not bode well for our RRS chances. 

Yeah yeah, I know the Sooner faithful are geeking out about Michael Hawkins (and I've enjoyed the spark he's brought), but harsh reality is about to come crashing down on his dream debut. 

I don't think it'll be as bad as 49-0, but it certainly won't be as fun as 34-30. We're too hobbled at wideout and o-line to mount a legitimate threat to UT's impressive defense. 

Last year Dillon Gabriel played out of his mind. Tawee Walker kept the clock moving with hard yards inside. Jalil Farooq stretched the secondary, allowing Drake Stoops and Andrel Anthony to move the chains underneath. 

None of those guys are on the depth chart anymore.

But even with them, it still took a miraculous late-game effort and shocking UT collapse to eeke the win.
