I'm an X's and O's guy, and I truly cannot understand Littrell's system. It's so random and chaotic.

Lol- we ran versions of the Air Raid when he was here. However, when he was calling plays towards the end, we were more of a running team.

Yeah, that's what's confusing me: I actually watched a lotta UNT film of his time there, but I'm not seeing the same thing with us. With y'all he actually seemed to have a basic gameplan and flow that he would follow over the course of a game. With us, it just comes across as capricious and random.

Injuries or not, I truly can not articulate what our offense even is at this point.

That's what I'm afraid of...  it's like a Lebby-ish playbook that was crafted to accommodate Arnold, but without the full integration (and buy-in) needed from the O.C. I didn't like Lebby's system or agree with his playcalling, but I understood it.

At this point, Littrell seems like a contractor who was hired to take over someone else's home renovations halfway through construction. It's like he doesn't agree with the previous guy's work, but he's gotta figure out how to make it fit with what he's got.

So who's to blame for this dumpster fire of an offense?  Littrell and Bedenbaugh?  QB Coach/development?  QB evals/recruiting?  Venables?  This is Shaun Watson at Texas level bad.  No way should an offense look like this in year three of a HC's tenure at an established program.

The HC makes the hires; it’s all on him.

I really thought Venables was a great hire for them. At this point, I’m not sure he makes it beyond this season.

Spot on. Although, there is a taste of the John Blake tenure happening.

I have a question for OU fans…

can OU really compete financially in this world of NIL and the crazy transfer portal?

I mean, not just be okay, which we know they should be 8 win team barely trying most years, but can they be a NC contender with the $$$ it takes to do it?

Being without your top 4-5 WR is a killer and like you said, the OL isn’t good enough to make up for it in the running game

I don’t think the coaching staff was particularly interested in competing in NIL until the last year or so IMO.

But who knows. I think BV would have been a better HC 15 years ago than today.

Hard to run into 7 man boxes when you aren’t good.

Tough season. I agree the loss of all the WRs make for a one dimensional offense. I did think the defense would be stouter.

The defense gave up 14 points today. SC scored 21 on defense basically.
