I was never a big fan of pre slit to begin with.

5A needs to go back to post split like 6A.

UIL has talked about it some, but right now the majority (by a slim margin) wants the split to remain in 5A...

I think there's a decent chance the UIL moves Lufkin...I dont see them moving Highland Park or the Mesquite schools, mainly because no one from those districts protested

I would imagine its mainly the 5A D2 crowd that likes it?

I know that wouldn’t be ideal, but if TH just opted up. It would take some of the travel time away. However, they would probably never make the playoffs again.

They could probably make the playoffs. Hell Lee made it. The difference would be the playoffs. Them making long playoff runs would be few and far between. Facing the Desoto's and Cedar Hill type of schools in the 2nd round would be to much for the Tyler schools. We are not on that level anymore.

With Longview moving to 6A and Tyler travels is going to be 90+, I would to see HP and TH moving in with Dallas and Mesquite schools in 6-5A and call it 7-5A.

Take the three Carrollton schools out of 6-5A and put them in 3-5A with Denton and the north Ft Worth schools. They are all north anyway.

Why is Granbury in 3-5A? Take Granbury, Aledo and White-settlement back to their area with Burleson, Joshua, Cleburne, and throw in Midlithian, Red Oak. And they can call it 6-5A.🤣. I Know, it’ll never happen.

That much is true

Three schools in this district runs the flexbone and hybrid flexbone out of the pistol. The two that run the flexbone is

Burleson Centennial

Joshua

midlothian runs the flexbone hybrid out of the pistol.

Now I see why TH kept Marshall on the schedule. These offensive are going to be very to stop when you don’t face teams that run these offenses anymore.

Heck yeah I’m sure it is.

If schools the size of Marshall, Hallsville, and Whitehouse (1500-ish) don’t want to play schools like Lufkin and Longview (2200-ish) for district football;  Just imagine smaller 5A D2 schools like Jacksonville, Terrell, Crandall (1300-ish)

Im willing to bet we see the split eventually spread to other sports for the same reasons.

The gulf between the bottom of D2 and the top of D2 is enormous. Almost 1,000 students  difference.

The D2 schools are closer together than the D1 schools

Eh, I hear ya but many in 6A are dealing with large gaps in district play alone....both Rockwall schools have 700 more kids than Longview and during playoff runs, it's nothing to play a school with 1000+ more.

I just always thought enrollment differences had higher effect on 4A below. 5A and 6A are more so about participation #s and what you have in the program IMO.

At some point, safety has to be a priority. I'm literally happy as heck that Longview went back 6A because of pre split in 5A D1. Trips to McKinney and Sherman turn into Forney and Royse City. Heck, we don't even have to go to Mesquite anymore. I'll take it.

I bet Lufkin people wish they were 6A right about now.

It never dawned on me to see JT opt up to the largest classification. After seeing the district they put JT in. I wished Tisd would have had JT opt up. Might as well do it.

I never complained about the uil and how they do their realignment. Mainly because the Tisd schools have always been in a fair district travel wise. But after witnessing this. I'm pretty sure they don't have a damn clue on how to realign schools and what a map looks like. Now some schools are gonna have to travel. But being located where we are as in Tyler. It doesn't make no sense to put JT nor Lufkin in the district they are in.

How long will it take after the hearing will the district get the answer?

I've heard the 21st but the appeal process takes place on the 20th in Austin if I'm not mistaken. I fully expect Lufkin to go 9-5A. Angleton is also appealing 9-5A to move to 11.

How many times has UIL said yes to the moving from one district to the next?

that's what i want to know. even more interesting is the fact that 9-5A voted to keep Lufkin out.

I remember rockwall and Desoto were able to back in the day. but I haven’t heard of it since then.

Is that better? Wonder how the mileage plays out for both. Glad they won.

driving 2 hours plus is better than three in their opinion plus they have a better shot at a postseason birth.

they wouldn't have won jack in the other district.
