Exhibit A on why the UIL should make this an 8 team district.

I'd love an 8 team district....but where would they come from?  Creates some nightmare situations like we see Lufkin facing right now.

Greenville?  That's brutal.  Greenville to Nac...YIKES.   Greenville to Marshall and Hallsville is rough, although we've seen it a couple of alignments in the past.

Crandall, Poteet, Ennis, Terrell.  That's brutal to any of them to Texarkana, Marshall, and Nac.

Corsicana to Texarkana, MP, Marshall..... even Nac.

-----------
Our best bet to get an 8 team district is to either see Pine Tree or Sulphur Springs move back up, neither of which I expect to see.  From what I understand, both are in enrollment decline.

Our best hope to move up is probably Lindale because they are actually showing slow growth.

After that.... Lufkin is the only one that's even a remote possibility.....and it's not likely.  I don't see LP dropping to Division II anytime soon.  They are a little over 200 above the cutoff if I recall correctly.

Scheduling would be great with 8......but figuring out where #8 comes from is tricky.  We need PT and Jax to beef up those enrollments and stay in the neighborhood.

Has anybody thought about this schedule that THS has?   Murder.  I know THS is very loaded this year but they could easily go 0-4 in this stretch.  Stanford said he wanted a tough non district schedule and he got it.  But it should make them stronger down the road as long as they don't get a lot of injuries.  But on the bright side,  Mavchamp can't go on and on about how the Mavs have the toughest schedule in 5A.  Their schedule is a walk in the park compared to this nightmare.

I’m didn’t realize my posts hurt your feelings.

And I have never said we had THE toughest schedule in 5A.  I said ONE of the toughest in 5A. Historically it’s annually been the toughest in our district.  And it’s not even close.

Considering we’ve been facing the likes of Longview, Carthage, McKinney North, New Caney, Tyler….. just to name a few over the last few years… I stand by my sentiments.  I’m excited to see THS pull together a really tough schedule.

I’ve always  been a THS supporter other than when we play.  Strange flex to drag my name…..  but whatever.

I believe the University game will be a neutral site

Holy crap.   I will say we will definitely feel the heat

Could Pine Tree petition to remain in 5a?

Interesting question.  But doubt they’d want to.

PT could become playoff contenders in a lot of sports they aren’t contenders in 5A.

Come on Mav.  Don't over react.  I never dragged your name nor did I ever say the Mavs don't schedule tough games.  They do.  But so does THS and I would say their schedule for next year will probably be the toughest in all of 5A.  But that is what the coach wanted.  I don't care about the past but the schedule THS had last year was almost on par with Marshall.  I've always appreciated what you do for this site and have told you that many times.  But you do say that every year.  If that offends you then so be it.  Chill out.  And I support all the schools in the district unless they are playing THS.  Even Whitehouse.

I say it every year because it’s generally true.  Where is the lie?

Look at the non district schedules for Pine Tree, Hallsville, Whitehouse….Mount Pleasant…

Who has been playing a team like Carthage with a trophy case full of state championships?  Or a Longview with their annual 4-5 rounds deep playoffs (sometimes in 6A no less).

Longview and Carthage are each near the tops of their classifications the last few years in wins and deep playoff runs.

I never said THS had a weak schedule last season.  I know Lone Star and Colleyville Heritage were very good.

Are they Carthage and Longview good?  I don’t know.

And I too cheer for the district after the playoffs start.  Except Whitehouse.  Guess you’re a better person than me 🤷🏼‍♂️

The travel in that non-district over the next 2 years sked for THS is rough too

I wonder what time the bus will roll back in to the T-High parking lot on Saturday morning after a Friday night game in Fayetteville, Arkansas?     If they leave the stadium at 11:30 pm, will the sun be up in Texarkana when they get back home?

The schedule posted by Coach Stanford on Twitter/X shows Midlothian Heritage at location to be determined.   I guess that means neutral site, but it sure would be good to get that one at home.   Otherwise, Tigers have only 4 home games - one in August, one in September, one is October, one in November.    Three game stretch in September to Argyle (well over 400 mile round trip), then Midlothian Heritage (neutral site???), then Fayetteville (close to 500 miles round trip).

Being a large, good team on an island makes it pretty difficult, when was the last time Texas High had relatively closer games?

  • Mavchamp changed the title to 7-5A Division II Football District

Did the Liberty Christian game take the place of the Fayettville game for THS?

I got Legacy, Liberty Christian, Midlothian Heritage, and Waco University as their non-district schedule.
