Honeybadger
Hopefully Mounts last 3 starters that are injured can find away to get back on the field this coming week. Ash is back and I promise you Overton felt his presence. Pretty sure he ran over at least 8 or 9 of their starters at some point Friday night. With one run trucking 2 of them and then telling them cmon let’s go and getting a personal foul. Football wasn’t made to be played soft. Mount let one slip away and yeah Overton played a good second half, Mount shouldn’t have let them get close to getting back in that game. It’s behind us now and Alto awaits. Mount gets back to playing the football they were playing before district starts and they handle business this Friday. Wildcatwarriors7
Shoulda coulda woulda Overton had a sloppy first half and came back the second half and punched them straight in the mouth and Mount had no answer for them…. If Overton plays like that from the get go the game would’ve been over in the third quarter… give me alto by a touchdown next week Edited November 2 by Wildcatwarriors7

Yes, Overton felt his presence, as any team Mount Enterprise has played with him in the backfield. Even if you key on him he'll still get the yards because he is a fast hard runner. It was unfortunate that he was injured before district play started. There is no telling how those games might have turned out with him in the lineup, not only offensively, but defensively also. At this level of play (2A) losing a player that contributes so much of your offensive production hurts. Mount Enterprise has a stable of good backs and it would be something if they had the added dimension of a passing attack. The unsportsmanlike personal foul call after removing his helmet on the field of play was a proper call per the rule. I can understand it in the heat of the moment after he was ruled down when his elbow came into contact the the ground. He's a passionate, competitive player. This will go down as a classic game in the Overton vs Mount Enterprise cross-county rivalry. Edited November 3 by Ronster23

Just look at Italy last week lose their star and end up losing to a terrible itasca team.
Lovesmalltownlife
Like I said on another post the winner of the Grapeland vs Lovelady game is the district champ under new UIL rules according to the radio announcers last Friday. This is the best Grapeland has looked in a long time. I could be wrong, but I have that feeling. They have a little of everything: speed, size, and strength on both sides of the ball, along with some depth and athletes everywhere. We just are never able to put it together. But this group has always been winners ever since pee-wee days. Cant save they never put it together! They seem to put it together in 2018-2019 season...were a top 10 team in the State. Only had 2 loses, to 3A Crockett by 1 point and the best 2A team I have seen in awhile in Mart. This game with Lovelady feels very similar to that season as well. Both teams are solid and district championship on the line. Hopefully Grapeland doesn't Grapeland themselves this game like they did vs Overton and Frankston. LL that year had a really good team too and the game between them was really close I think LL had came way back and had the ball at the end of the game to take the lead and fumbled or something happened can’t remember but it was a good game. This is from the UIL 2024 Football Playoff Information Handbook https://www.uiltexas.org/files/athletics/2024_Footbal_Postseason_Packet.pdf Certification of District Representatives • The last date for certifying the district to the League office is November 9th. District chairs will be submitting directly to MaxPreps via the UIL Portal. Once district certifications are submitted, the online brackets will auto-populate with the teams from your district. The district chairs must certify the district representatives through the UIL Portal as soon as they are finalized. Instructions can be found here. NOTE: Each district certification must have a separate 1st through 4th place finisher based on district standings. • TIES If two or more schools are tied for district representation at the end of the regular season, the district executive committee must devise a policy to select the schools to represent the district in post-district play. For tie games in the playoffs, Section 1250 (h) of the Football Plan in the Constitution and Contest Rules applies in all conferences. (h) TIED GAMES. (1) Non-District Varsity, District Varsity and Post-District Games. The NCAA overtime system shall be used in all non-district varsity games, district varsity games, and post-district games tied at the end of regulation play. (See manual.) Does not stipulate who is the out right district champ, just the seeding. Edited November 6 by Ronster23

MUSTANGMANIA
So if Grapeland wins it appears that the district executive committee will determine the final standings. I would think they would go by points. But who knows, we have have a “Friday Night Lights” moment with a midnight coin toss.

Per @pinecurtain on the Lovelady/Grapeland thread, Grapeland has to beat Lovelady by 16 points to go in as the No. 1 seed, otherwise it’s Lovelady. I don’t see that happening, but stranger things right? If they beat Lovelady, all 3 will be Co-Champs, but it will come down to points for seeding purposes. @pinecurtain: 3way tie goes on head head point max 17 per game If Grapeland beats Lovelady : Overton -12. +5 against Grapeland -17 against Lovelady 3rd if Grapeland wins Grapeland -5. -5 against Overton would have to beat Lovelady by 16 points to get first Lovelady +17. +17 against Overton. would have to lose by 16 not to win first.
