Athens not a juggernaut plus Nac was the favorite! However, nice getting a W . Lions did that last season. 1-0 lost eight straight and ended blowing out Jacksonville! Can’t overreact from first game! Lighting up man lol Athens did beat the Lions last year and they has a new program coaches from last year and yea you right that Athens not a Juggernaut but they made the playoffs last year and so they keep fighting and didn't give up, the score would of been worse if Athens would have given up but they a little scrappy bunch, and no not overreacting on the first game but a W. Is a W. The kids needs to build and keep that motivation intensity to keep doing well, next week Henderson has to build up that intensity and carry on to next game vs Liberty Eylua and take it one game at a time. EnjoyLife
Good win for the Lions last night. Led the entire game but a couple of times Athens got within 3...and each time the Lions responded to widen the lead again. This was the kind of game Henderson would have let get away last season. Lion7000
The district looking good for now. Pine Tree Kilgore Henderson Chapel Hill Lindale getting the W. No idea about Mabank and there is Palestine can bounce back!
KildogDad
With wins over Carthage, Gilmer, and Jasper, seems like the district flexed a little last night.

Aggie98
Pine Tree beating Gilmer was no fluke. They have a lot of athletes and play extremely physical football. They beat a very good Texas High team last year in week 11 to get into the playoffs. That's no small feat. They also beat Lindale by 3 TD's and gave Kilgore one of our toughest games of the season. Heck, it took us 2 days to beat them. PT ain't the PT of old no more.
wildcatphs
Hey guys, I know you guys probably don't care about Palestine. I don't think we will be a factor this year. But here is my assessment of the team 1 game in. this is an entirely new coaching staff. I the the DC came from Navasota and the OC came from Early. You can tell this team is learning an entirely new system. The QB is the son the OC. He's a big kid with a nice arm and can run some. You can tell this team misses Denman, but remember the name Drayon Spurlock. Right now there is no chemistry with the qb and the wrs.Things looked a little better in the 2nd half. Defense, there were some positives, but they were on the field too much. Played hard, needs to sure up the tackling. Got some turnover and held Nac to 7 pts in the 2nd half. Like I said, it's going to be a long season. But I think Coach Reyes expected this when taking over the program. We still have athletes, just going have to go through some growing pains. Don’t get discouraged. We need more representation in our district in fact Henderson is in the exact same position! I mean don’t need a bulldog love fest cause that is gross! However, don’t be like Mabank is be non existent. Post more on smoaky no matter how bad it gets. Just don’t talk trash unless you want to get the business on here. The top three have earned that unfortunately.

PT is not that and traditionally the pirates have been an afterthought! A pT loss in district can definitely hurt anyone playoff chances especially Henderson and Palestine that are trying to get back! Lindale should be able but they must beat one of the three teams to get to the postseason. It would be interesting but Chill and Kilgore seem ok. I realize it game one but you can see the importance! Lion7000
Pains me to say this but I can’t see anyone getting close to Kilgore. 10-0 is very likely.

IMO it seems that the Red Dogs are pretty superior to the Blue Dogs. Then there is a pretty large gap between those two and the rest of the district. Time will tell.

Pine Tree is everyone dark horse if not better. Kilgore and Chapel are locks Lindale and PT are likely as long as they take care of Henderson and Palestine Mabank. This district is just as competitive!

That’s pretty accurate. 1 slip up could cost a team. I’m calling 9-4A the toughest 4A district in Texas.

Honestly CH is not a lock I could honestly see them getting beat by PT. I’m not saying it will happen but what CH like to do fits right into PT strength and that’s stopping the run should be a good game. I hope all teams remain healthy.
