Give me Jasper 28-21, CH drops off this year. Backfield will be looking forward to the next level You may be correct or the backfield has tasted a state ring the last three years and will fight like heck to succeed this year. Time will tell

I think my Lions will be better but this is extremely competitive district. You really can’t if you’re being honest go against those top four. As for your team, Athens showed some life last year so never a complete failure!

Defensively good and soil players are good. Henderson definitely good enough to beat anyone if the other team is playing poorly! I hope and expect to grab that last post season spot. We know Kilgore and Chapel Hill will be the front runners , Lindale and recent 5a Pine Tree should be contenders. Palestine is scrappy and like Henderson trying to play darkhorse!

Kinda Random and Not being that guy am I for one would love for Henderson to be in the state championship. I couldn’t believe what we saw from Chapel Hill at Jerry world. I said to my buddy , Who is this team? 1

That's what happens when your passing game isn't built to really stretch the field vertically. Good defenses can stack the box and dare CH to throw. This led to CH being shutout in the championship game last year and the semifinals the prior year. Lots of Brisbon passing yards over his first 3 years as a starter has come from shovel passes and other short/underneath routes. I've seen very little progression in his downfield reads and accuracy over these past 3 years. I'm not hating on the kid....just making an observation. He's a phenomenal athlete and needs the ball in his hands. There is a reason he's being recruited as an athlete and not a QB. CH has gotta do better with the intermediate and deeper routes. Excited to see the new starters and any new wrinkles that the coaches have implemented this off-season. Edited August 15, 2024 by CHDog77 1

Hopefully he progresses in that area and Henderson had a couple of athletes that could throw ! I feel your pain. 1

Great coaches and defenses straight shut us down in the big games over the last 3 yrs. I’m sure they love defending our way to vanilla offense. Straight talent has made our good runs as of late happen. Now it’s on the staff to improve the play calling or we will never see a state ring. I kinda feel bad for the kids. Give them opportunities to excel by implementing an offense to spread the field. 1

Heard CH fired the OC after the disaster in the State game. Is Riordan calling it now? Or did he promote someone else?

The OC proposed changes for the State game-especially to face the talent of the Anna Linebacker, and it was turned down. Real question is the last couple years, if the struggle has been the Passing Game, that would be Rio who coaches the QB and his brother the other Riordan who has been coaching receivers. The OC coached the line which was pretty dominant. It will be interesting to see what happens this year. 2
inittowinit Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 (edited) CH always has skill players-they always have dudes. It’s just be will they show up to play and will CH get away from their vanilla offense. Edited August 16, 2024 by inittowinit 1
inittowinit Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Can Palestine still surprise some teams after losing a key player to Westwood?

Completely different offensive schemes. Unless any of the new coaching staff has a kid moving in with them that can play QB and knows the system. Palestine always has good athletes. Once they learn the spread offense and get the timing down, they'll be dangerous. Hopefully PISD will give the staff time to implement and develop the program. 1

Couldn’t have said it any better we just need time to learn the system, and we do have a new quarterback he got potential 1
BillShakes Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 How did everyones scrimmages go? Mabank looked about how you'd expect. Excited for a scoreboard in 2 weeks!!!
kdogs00 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Kilgore looked ok in the controlled portion....I think it was 3-1 Kilgore in that part that I kept up with...a lot of moving pieces in that part so there were times not all starters were on the field at same time so it was kinda hard to judge...in the live qtr the starters played and Kilgore won 21-0....Kilgore defense from what I remember held them to no first downs and probably close to negative total yards or not much over positive yards...our secondary is elite, LB's are good, and Dline is very good....speed all over the field and they swarm the ball...offense definitely looked better in live portion than controlled IMO...we have several RB's that run very hard, receivers are fast with good hands....Oline did ok for the most part especially run blocking...pass blocking was ok at times but definitely needs work....overall, I think if Kilgore gets their Oline figured out I think this team will be a problem for anyone they play...

I have the same exact thoughts. O line will be the key to Kilgore. Their Run block was good. The pass blocking could improve. But overall this first scrimmage looked alot better than the first scrimmage last year lol. 1

Lindale was good last year and will carry over this year. Pine Tree loses a lot on defense but will take the 4th spot. Henderson and Palestine are capable of being good but need more time. I don't see the list that way, games hadn't started yet so time will tell, all I know that QB and RB duel from Chapel Hill is back for they senior year so we all know Chill still have them dudes, Kilgore going to be good but far as Lindale, Pine Tree I don't know what they have this year so that line up maybe different. Henderson looked good with there Defense vs Hallsville even tho it was a scrimmage, Henderson Offense looks like they can be good. The first QB that played vs Hallsville scrimmage looks good and has a arm with Hallsville looking good as well. I wish the coach would work with him more where he can get he's accuracy down and I promise you it be a different Henderson this year, if that QB gets the start part and can work on being accurate cause that kid always had a arm ,that kid was back up last year but had a arm on him, hope he gets the part to replace Smiley I believe Smiley is with Kilgore now, i might be wrong but i think so.
