88YoePride Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 A: Maybe. I don't know what you wouldn't be surprised by. B: What's your definition of "ripple effect" as pertains to this situation? If it's who I'm hearing it will be, there could certainly be some sort of "ripple effect." Maybe a couple. 1

Yoe fans tell me there were a lot of good candidates whom applied, which has made the superintendent happy. If it goes the way some fans think--- it may surprise folks in Cameron and in Central Tx. Hiring practices at Yoe are sometimes questionable, but with this group of applicants they should find a AD/HC that fits the Yoe athletes and the Cameron community. Best of luck to the Superintendent and the Coach who gets hired at Yoe--, the entire athletic program needs a reboot.

Yes, word is they had more than a few highly pedigreed candidates. I'm wondering how this crop compares to the batch that applied last time Rhoades left. 'Cause I heard some qualified applicants got turned away that time in favor a guy who probably came cheaper and could be more easily... controlled. If it's who most seem to think it is, there will definitely be a reboot. If they let the guy coach, and help him with parents. 1

When Rhoades left the first time it would not have mattered if Darrell Royal had walked through the door Yoe Superintendent was going hire the assistant coach and home town boy. I was told this was a true search by a different Superintendent. If this hire is anywhere close to the rumor mill forecast --it will shake up the Cameron ISD as well as other Central Texas schools. It will put the athletes and parents on notice that things are going to be done differently at Yoe. Good luck Coach!

oldasdirt Posted March 14, 2024 Author Posted March 14, 2024 Always felt like Yoe was one of the “great” spots to coach at! Great opportunities to be successful. 1
BuckNut Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 How many coaches from their last state championship are still on staff?

Again, no one who hangs around the admin building will even admit that Le-ra applied for the job. Those people grew up here, they know darn well you can't keep secrets in this town.

oldasdirt Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 Don’t want to start a great debate about Texas geography, but when referencing “central Texas”, does that mean Brady, Brownwood, or Rochelle metro area? I know I’m old but was just wondering where others thought “central Texas” candidate would come from? Probably not Rochelle!
BuckNut Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Folks in East Texas consider Waco to Corsicana central Texas everything West of FW or Gatesville to be West Texas
oldasdirt Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 Hmmm…. Being a Brownwood native, I never realized I lived in west Texas.

But, I was also told his name was in the stack of applications, so... That's why I always say "From what I hear" or "Word is", etc. 99% of the time what I'm told by those in or close to "the clique" turns out to be true, but I know better than to assume anything or take anything for granted.
CMat79 Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 I heard some really good candidates applied for this job. There's one around the north central part of Texas I'm pulling for but I don't think you can go wrong a few of the names being dropped around. Best wishes to Rick Rhoades in his retirement. Although last 2 seasons didn't work out well, he is still the most successful HC in Yoe history. It wouldn't surprise me to see him re surface somewhere in the future. 1
