Bring Shawn Wells home! Did great work with James Bowie and just had 2 division 1 running backs as a position coach at 6A. He's the only one that can turn this program around.

Is he bringing those RB's with him? Because that may be the only hope for LK.

A position coach in 6A is a better football job than the AD of LK.

Tough gig. Like other schools in the area I think they are making a mistake moving on from a guy thats tied to the area and would likely be there for the long haul. They will be on their 4th coach in 5 years. Of their last 10 coaches only 2 coaches have stayed long enough to coach a class from their freshmen through senior year. Tough to grow success.

Town is drying up. Its tough to find schools around you that you can compete with and beat in pre district. District you're fighting for 4th at best.

Hiring coaches is a nightmare. Pay is atrocious as in some of the lowest in the state. Live in the middle of nowhere or commute. Work hard to not be very good at anything. The AD that hires you will likely be gone in 2 years.

Ah, LK...

...and this is the time of year I like to bring up how they botched the hiring of a really, REALLY good AD about 10 years ago.  Went special session and voted 4-3 to accept him.  One of the 3 that voted no wanted someone else, and the other 2 only voted no because they weren't on the hiring committee.  Said coach went back to where he was.  Can't say I don't blame him at all.

Good luck to the person landing this gig.

terrible job. place has run dry

I don’t know how good of a job it is. But I do know they have the talent to compete in the district. They WAY underperformed the last couple years. It shouldn’t be hard to make the playoffs in this district as a minimum.  It hasn’t been long ago that they were competitive (I’m not talking about winning state, just competing).  Hire better….

Hire better is good in theory. Just not sure who you convince to take the job that you'd consider better. Coaches typically want talent to make a run and boost their resume or money...

They have made the playoffs the last two years ironically.

I don't know if they will ever have consistent winning season again because the only teams in the area that are worse then them are in their district. They already get Detroit, Cumby, and Clarksville on the schedule.

Keeping LK kids in LK would help with that.

L-K for 50+ years has been blue and white…..football team had an all black uniform in 2023……saw several pictures of him at school, where he more than likely knew his picture was going to be taken that particular day, and he would have black and brown/tan clothes on with no blue or white…….Jerry Bennett was not a hometown L-K guy, but Jerry was proud to wear blue and white clothing while employed by L-K(just an example).
Clothing color does not make a person bad, by no means…..not saying he is not a good guy…….But never seen John King at Longview, Scott Surratt at Carthage, or Jeff Taylor when he was at Gilmer wear clothes not in line with their school.
