SammyLunchmeat Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 (edited) Look folks. This is actually the 7th head coach here since fall of 2020. Thats a fact. There was two coaches in 2020 season. It’s way worse than any of you realize Edited September 13, 2024 by SammyLunchmeat 1 1

Did they have other obligations they were supposed be doing that morning? I have no idea, but rarely is it just as simple as the players went to a church breakfast before school and that and that alone is what they were disciplined for. like I said, no idea the facts of this situation, just my experience in this field tells me there is more to the story.

Maybe I’m just old but this guy sounds like a real old school coach to me. A throwback coach, if you will. It’s obvious he uses football as a means to hold young men accountable. Say what you will, it’s pretty ballsy to sideline kids over a relatively small violation. He definitely thinks discipline is more important than winning. This article makes me like the guy and gives me some idea why his tenure was so short. I’d like to see this type of accountability at all schools. 2 2 1

Everyone can get on here and say what they want including me but if you wanna win football games you hire that man. Maybe they wouldn't have won many this year but within 5 years (probably closer to 3) they'd be a very good football team. Edited September 13, 2024 by Lambo

He was trying to prevent injuries. I completely understand the reason behind the rule.

Do you think Scott Surratt or John King would tell his players not to go to a breakfast at a church because they might get injured ???
rattlesnakerandy Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 My son is on the team. There was no church breakfast provided and no one disciplined for attending any breakfast provided. The team has eaten breakfast twice, both provided by 2 mothers. Wish there was more parental involvement but this is all that has helped. From my understanding donations by a handful have made this possible. All breakfasts my son has attended were at the dressing room. Cotton, have you volunteered to help? Have you donated any money? I'm just curious. This is an LK problem way older than every player we have. I've known SS a long time. Do call him and get his opinion on all this.

So, Pinecrest Baptist Church did not volunteer to feed the kids breakfast, and they weren’t told the players could not come ? I talk to Scott every now and then, might even talk to him tonight.

There is no reason for kids to compete with their friends and play sports, likely outside. Instead of playing video games and/or doing things that get young men in trouble or around the wrong crowds.

My sons don't play football but if they did I'd want them to play for a Coach like Ferguson. Edited September 13, 2024 by Lambo

The kids? The administration?
