RETIREDFAN1 Posted April 20, 2024 Author Posted April 20, 2024 Famous Veteran: Adam Driver - USMC “I joined a few months after September 11, feeling like I think most people in the country did at the time, filled with a sense of patriotism and retribution and the desire to do something.” - Adam Driver Adam Douglas Driver (b. 1983) is an American actor. He’s gained worldwide acclaim for playing Ben Solo/Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and in other roles. Driver was a Marine with 1/1 Weapons Company, 81’s platoon, in Camp Pendleton, California. Months before deploying to Iraq, he dislocated his sternum in a mountain biking accident and was medically separated. “Those never in the military may find this hard to understand, but being told I wasn’t getting deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan was very devastating for me." Driver is now the founder of Arts in the Armed Forces, a non-profit that provides free arts programming to American active-duty service members, veterans, military support staff, and their families worldwide. #USA #Veterans #usmc https://www.wearethemighty.com/.../adam-driver-ted-talk.../
RETIREDFAN1 Posted April 22, 2024 Author Posted April 22, 2024 Here I am in an US foxhole on the slope of Hill 30 (Sept 2023). This area was occupied by the US Army’s 35th and 132nd Infantry Regiments for 5 weeks. It’s located on Mt Austen in front of the Japanese ‘Gifu’ position. A great example of the coral ridges there. Not many tourists get to this specific area. The direction is facing west and below me is one of the river forks of the Matanikau River.
