Not trying to knock greens accomplishments at cooper but our 13 and season as proud as I am of that year. But our district had many similar current 2a teams. Alba, rivercrest, Clarksville, plus the always terrible prairiland and chisum so not world beaters so the competition has been about the same.

His last couple years he had the beginnings of the Gunter dynasty and a really talented leonard team in his district

I did say Casto is a good coach. When Green was in AA it was the same as AAA. The UIL later shifted classifications. The AA Cooper is in now used to be A.

I’m pretty sure there’s a good number of the teams that were 2A when green was at Cooper are still 2A. I’m not sure any of the current 2A teams were 1A back then… if so, not many. They may have been 2A D2’s.

Green, I'm sure does a great job in the director duties. He is tied with Mckamy with most wins at cooper with 59 and has the longest run as head coach with 11 seasons. So he does something right to stick around. But in terms of coaching football minus our great run from 2010 through 2013 he hasn't accomplished anything of significance. As a matter of fact 1 winning season outside of our run. Without the ship of men as his DC I'm not sure if he ever made the playoffs. All I'm saying is unless there are super talented group guys like my team mates coming through don't expect them to be a powerhouse. Battling for 4th is best case scenario.

Historically you are correct, but enrolments of many of the schools in AA now have declined. Putting this to be, it should be a really good race for the district title wit HG this next year. WC did well in track so they might be a close 3rd.

I think realignment was really kind to the wolves & moved WC to region 2 into a new district. You’re right though, it’s gonna be a really interesting race between Pewitt, Cooper & HG. If somebody is gonna dethrone Cooper in district, they better do it this year. Dawgs will still be pretty dang good though.

Welcome back from a long hiatus.  And yes. He has not done well in low talent teams.

LOL, before I retired I always found that I had a harder time winning with lower talented teams.

But did you elevate those teams with less talent? Green only goes how far talent can carry him. He doesnt make teams better. Just look at this past season in cumby statistically the worst defensive season for the Trojans in their sad history in terms of ppg. All I'm saying is the X's and O's have passed him by a long time ago. Hire good assistants and let them coach. He can yell 6 hammer all he wants when he's not near the football team lol.

Yea but iv worked places were we had 0-10 talent and went 3-7 or 4-6 heck once we made the playoffs and shouldn't have but do to coaching and schemeing we made it happen. Seems to me if they have 3-7 talent they do that or worse under green.

In some cases not even as far as the talent could carry. Take the 2013 season… as great of a season it was, it ended in embarrassing fashion losing to a 28 point underdog Leonard team.that team at worst should’ve played Cisco in the semi’s.  2014 team still had good talent left & they go 7-4 & lose to a bad Tom Bean team that didn't even make the playoffs & lose to a 5-5 Howe team in 1st round of playoffs. His tenure was littered with head scratching losses. It’s not like he had no talent to work with. A lot of his teams had that knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. He is a good man though & wish him luck at Cumby.

I 1000% agree I didn't want to say that he under achieved almost every year but since you did. I do hope he can finally elevate a team. Unfortunately he has never proven to be able to. The one thing he does have going is an absolutely terrible district that they should at least make the playoffs in. I guess another question did cumby even post the job to see if they could attract a young and hungry coach? Or is this just set up to the hands the reins over to his son in a year or two?

LOL all you Cooper boys living in 2013. My team wasn't playing that night since Cooper had to reschedule because of snowmageddon. I wanted to see my nephew play one time live. It looked like the bulldogs had mailed it in. He told me there was so much dissention amongst the payers and parents going on. I felt bad for the players that played hard that night for Cooper. It looked like Leonard wanted the victory worse than Cooper. Maybe after an overachieving 12-0 start the Dogs were finally played down to their talent level.

Some of those 2013 boys are like the fellow that was whacked in the Hoo Hoo's at Billy Bob's party in the movie Varsity Blues LOL.
