Lion7000
Glad they did this. I don’t think the NfL has a leg to stand on unless they used an oil Derrick . Color scheme should be fine and they look ridiculous on policing it. I believe Iowa was granted permission by the Steelers in a similar situation. Ace
I had forgotten that the base color of flag of the City of Houston is that shade of blue. So, it's sort of an H-town color, rather than a color specific to the old NFL team. I doubt the Oilers had to get permission from Columbia University to wear Columbia blue back in the day.
wtlobos
I'm pretty sure Rice has worn that powder blue on certain occasions as well.

Heck they had the police cars back in the late 70's to Mid 80's in those colors. Those colors are Houston colors, but now it's more purple drank colored. @RETIREDFAN1 do you still have that photo of the H.P.D. police cars ? I remember seeing them on the roads when we would come down to see my Uncle or going to Galveston back in the day.

Mr. P
Literally the flag of the City of Houston: If I'm the ownership of the Houston Texans and/or U of H leadership, I would work out some sorta civic partnership that is marketed specifically in honor of the City of Houston itself, and align the color/branding concepts totally on the City's color scheme. This would totally head-off any claim or litigation from Tennessee Titans Inc. due to those colors being associated and used by the City long before the creation of the football club. Mr. P
H-Town Blue: The Color That Defines Houston’s Spirit: https://queondamagazine.com/h-town-blue-the-color-that-defines-houstons-spirit/ Quote The light blue color, known as Columbia Blue, has a rich history in Houston that extends beyond its association with the Houston Oilers. This color has been a significant part of Houston’s identity for over a century, symbolizing the city’s heritage and its foundational industries. The city’s flag, adopted in 1915, prominently features light blue, representing the city’s heritage and its foundational industries, such as the locomotive and the plow, which are depicted in the city seal. This early adoption of light blue in the city’s flag underscores its historical and cultural importance, predating the establishment of the Houston Oilers in 1960.
