It’s not a bug. It’s very good mechanics. You just have to use the online protection and actually account for the players on defense unlike before.

I've heard this quite a bit...  do you mind elaborating on your experience with it? I'm interested in this aspect of the game.

Google and learn how to use adjusting protection (L1 or left Bumper) for solving your blocking issues. The game is actually really great at oline/front 7 play. Gone are the days where a blitz or a free rusher doesn’t get through because of some weird mechanic where he brushes shoulders of a guy in engaged and then doesn’t get through. You’ll notice pre snap different blitzes and you’ll have to adjust protection or else you will get beat. I too was struggling until I saw this and was able to fix it and the game is now much better because of it.

The kicking is perfect I think. Kicking on the road should be hard as hell just like it is in real life.

My beef is 1 on 1 blocking, which is a lot of the reason I hate Madden. 98 ovr LG dang near leaving guys untouched or getting cooked by a glitchy swim move by a low overall player. That has nothing to do with protection.

I shouldn't have to call for a double team on a 72 ovr DT that my 98 ovr LG should be mowing down more often than not especially if the D is only sending 4 or less. I could understand if Nebraska Ndamukong Suh was on the other side and the D was sending pressure. Then I'd adjust protection. But that's not what's happening.

Instead, we get silly animations that totally defeat the purpose of overalls or abilities.

I will say that play action is better under center than in shotgun or pistol.

Also, the super sim needs a lot of work. EA is addressing it on their next patch.

My biggest gripe on gameplay mechanics is probably the way zone coverage works for linebackers. They are terrible. I have to play a lot of dime just to even try to cover the field. But I will say down and distance is big in this game as it should be. Getting teams in 3rd and 7+ you can get in dime and guess pass and the DEs will really get after the QB.

This I can agree with.

I don't know if I mentioned it in my initial write up but zone AI is awful in this game. The CPU seems to be a lot better than the user team though I will say but that could be because of the difficulty I'm playing on.

Also, tons of busted coverages happening at the CB position. I've benefited from it, but have also been victim to it.

Still a great game though. EA just has to patch a few things.

Yea overall I love the game. I play on heisman and it’s just perfect imo. If they make the game easier with some of the adjustments I’ll be upset. One thing I’ve always hated in these games is not being challenged in franchise/dynasty. I want to lose games every now and then. I don’t want to go 5 straight titles with a G5 school before I get bored and move on from the game. I’d rather deal with a glitch here and there and have to really work my butt off for that title.

Some of the mini games that you have to do as a running back in Road to Glory are really insane. The hot spot circle drill is impossible to beat. The cpu puts up insane points to beat on that but on the easy one, that's literally just running the ball against 3 defenders, they can't beat 10,000 points.

Stoney's starting to get the hang of recruiting. I found out last night that you can remove the hours you've used on a recruit and redistribute them. I can take my 50 hours from full house and use them for sway and soft/hard sell.

Does anyone know if how you have your players listed in order on your board affects recruiting? Say I'm spending 65 hours on Mr.P but he's 35th on my board, but I'm spending 5 hours on Lobo97 and he's 5th on my board.

Sorry I did not see this sooner. So you basically look at the defense and identify the Mike and where blitzes and defenders may be coming from. If you look at the defense and you see they are loading the left side you hold down L1 and then it gives you the option to call protections. In this example I would half slide protection to the left. If you’re specifically hitting a deep shot to a wr and you know without a doubt you aren’t going to target your te or rb you can go max protect and they will abandon their routes for protection duties.

It’s a very underrated part of the game right now as the blitzing from the defense is light years ahead of what madden has been putting out there. I’ve seen it said “this is the first TRUE next gen football game.”

Not to my knowledge. But pay attention to recruiting multiple guys to the same position. When you get a commitment from a player and are still recruiting another player at the same position, it effects their potential playing time and could cause you to drop below their deal breaker stats.

@WETSU have noticed any difference in recruiting your pipeline versus non-pipeline players?

I have rarely tried to recruit outside of the pipeline to be honest. I’ve only recruited one that I know of and for whatever reason nobody else recruited him so I got him easily.

I tried to really use the o-line blocking schemes more last night. I could tell a difference in the run game. You really get a boost by letting your blockers actually block instead of just sprinting. Pass blocking made the pas rush more manageable. 3rd down is still tough but most 3TD downs in real life are.

Has anyone tried the old "recruiting hack" from the previous NCAA games? Where you, like, create a "punter" or "kicker" who is 6-6 230lbs with all 99 speed and skills, but has literally zero kicking abilities. That way he ends up a one-start nothing recruit who you swoop in and easily win over, then "convert" him into a prototypical QB or Megatron-like wideout?

Asking for a friend.  ;)
