HCTH97
My team (Tioga) is in Region 2 and we’re really looking forward to the season. DCTF has Axtell, Tioga, Coleman, Frankston, and Italy as the top teams in the Region. I think DeLeon and Wolf City will also have very good teams. Been reading Smoaky for a long time and look forward to some Region 2 talk. Would like to hear from some Disrict 8 posters to learn more about your teams. Tepper seems to think Frankston can make some noise. Tioga went to the third round last year and only lost 6 seniors. Our Coach is in his second year and has things on the right track.

I'll have some insight on Frankston this year. They've got some talent. Ran into Timpson early in the playoffs last couple of years and fell hard like most. Can't remember if it's the current Jr or Sr class that's really good, don't think they lost much last season.

My team (Alto) is not D1 this year nor a part of Region 2 but I can say y’all have a heckuvan ENERGETIC second year HC at Tioga. Coach Birdwell’s dad, Kerry, was our high school principal and then superintendent for several years. Solid. Coach Birdwell student taught at Alto and then went on to Groveton to do a great job as an assistant. I follow him on Twitter and have kind of kept up. What an historic year Tioga had! Congratulations and good luck this season. Y’all have a keeper!

Congratulations and good luck this season. Y’all have a keeper! We’re super glad to have Coach Birdwell. It was a big change going from ground and pound offensively to 35 - 40 passes a game. The kids love it and have had a great summer. District 8 teams will definitely want to finish in 1st or 2nd place because 3rd and 4th place teams will most likely draw Axtell and Italy. Both of those teams return a bunch of good players. Axtell is lead by Coach Horn who once Coached at Tenaha.

upullinmychain
How yall doing, ain't said much lately, been dealing with medical issues alot. I think they got Carlisle ranked a little low but we'll see going forward into preseason if they still got some grit about them. My last young one graduated last year so I'm out of the loop now after 15 years...lol

It’s different after that last one graduates so it will definitely be an adjustment. But I know you are Carlisle to the core so it will always matter. Hope the Injuns prove the prognosticators wrong…just like I hope we do, too. It’s here and we’ll see soon enough! Good luck with everything. Give that new district some heck with the spicy and don’t let up. What doesn’t kill is makes us stronger and you’ve proved that time and again. Who does Carlisle have in the second scrimmage? And where’s @RipperRipper?! Those Carlisle folks need to stand up. Trying to get my old buddy @SwarmingOnEm to get back in the SDC mix, too.

Amen Chain. God bless and keep you brother. I've been on the road a lot lately, but I have every intention to keep up with you guys. I didn't make the Carlisle scrimmage, I was in Colorado and haven't heard much. I guess I need to reach out to Rex. BTW, I'm real excited to see one of my old teammates Rex Sharp) back home. He did a heck of a job turning Sabine around and I think it was wise of Conner to bring him on. He had one of the best offseason programs in 3A when he was at Sabine. Sting? How did you think the Jackets looked? Edited August 19 by RipperRipper

How did you think the Jackets looked? Colorado! Went there in July; always a nice trip to escape the heat (even though it wasn’t all out hot in Texas this past July like usual!). Another father/son duo at Carlisle. I didn’t know his dad had come on board. Good move….and back home to boot. Maybe they’ll have the same kind of success as the previous father/son duo. Good luck! Saw lots of positives at our scrimmage vs. Shelbyville. We have Troup and Brook Hill this Thursday at Troup so expect a good test. Groveton is our opener at their place. RipperRipper
Yes, Overton used to be our big rival, but kinda settled down the years we didn't play them. There is still some smoke there tho. Haha....
