I think this might be their year to win the whole thing!

I think they certainly have the pieces to do it this year. Should be pretty salty on both sides of the ball.

Lots of things have to break right though. Health will be a big one. Bobcats were banged up at the wrong time last year. Coaching will be another factor, in my opinion.

This is the toughest schedule, top-to-bottom, that Celina has ever played probably. Maybe 2002, when we bumped to old 3A, the only one you could say was as tough. There aren’t any breaks in this schedule. And 7-4A looks to be one of the toughest, if not toughest, districts in Div. I, so yes, Bobcats will be battle tested, no doubt.

in terms of talent, though, this will be as good a roster as Celina has had since 2015 probably. Talent up and down the roster.

One thing that sticks out to me is that they scheduled run based teams for the most part. Is that what they want to work on the most is stopping the run?

Yeah that really jumps out. All pre-district games are against run-heavy teams. I think Gunter will be a little more varied this season, but still run-dominant.

I’m not sure if that was an intentional scheduling quirk, or if the coaches just wanted to beef up the schedule and these are the best teams they could get games against.

Celina has, historically, been brutally efficient against run-based offenses. It’s been the wide-open spread offenses, mainly Gilmer, that have traditionally given the Bobcats absolute fits.

At any rate, though, Celina will know how well they CAN defend the run by the time district rolls around.

Where is the Celina/Bellville game to be played. I may need a road trip for that one.

Teams that run the ball with 4 hot receivers (pistol double slot) keep Celina from running 10-1 or special defense.  Usually go zone or just basic 4-3.

They will play Bellville first to show us what they want to run defensive wise.

Bellville will still be very good on offense.. I’m curious how the defense does early only returning 3 starters from last years team. They will definitely be anchored by the D Line though.

Belleville will need a passing game or Celina will run them out of the stadium.
You can not when a state championship without running and throwing the equally well. Liberty Hill was an exception. But even they had enough of a passing game to keep defenses guessing.

This ought to be fun then, because Celina’s offensive line will be stacked. Fun micro-matchup to follow in the season opener!

Tell Franklin that also…Also hate to break it to you but Bellville lost the state championship last year by one score and a run heavy offense wasn’t the reason for losing that game… @89Falcon

Should be a good matchup in the trenches then…

They better make a run this year or next because they will be going 5A in 2026. There are about 4-6 schools on the north side of DFW about to make a jump weather it be 3A to 4A or 4A to 5A.

The growth has not slowed and in some areas it is accelerating.

I was working in that area a month ago… it’s crazy… another area that seems to be growing is around forney and Kaufman

Yep. Days as a “small school” are numbered. Although, Celina hasn’t felt “small” to me in about two decades. I’ll cheer for the Bobcats regardless of class, though. What will be sad though, is when Celina inevitably opens a 2nd high school in the not-so-distant future.

And you’re right, the growth isn’t slowing. Frisco was swallowed by the DFW monster back in the mid-2000s. Then it was Prosper and Celina that got eaten. Gunter will be next, sadly. All those small towns losing their identities for the sake of “growth” and “progress” which actually just means convenience in most instances. Hate to see it.

I would think so. I’d also figure Belleville’s offense will give Celina some fits early, as they adjust to that scheme. Either way, it’s a super fun week one matchup.

The interesting thing about Celina's schedule as when they get into district two of their top two opponents are wide open spread teams (Panther Creek and Lake Dallas) and in Region II teams like Stephenville, Alvarado and Kimball are all spread based

Stephenville is Region I, but yes, I had this same thought. Panther Creek will play WIDE OPEN and they have speed everywhere and a QB who can sling it. Alvarado, as odd as it sounds, can really spread the ball out too. And Lake Dallas is a sleeper in that district and in Region II, in my opinion.

That's right...dang realignment

Gunter has all kinds of water and sewage infrastructure issues, and the town seems in zero hurry to help developers out.  the population bomb is about to hit Aubery more than it already is and Pilot Point big, big time.  PP has like 15,000 lots platted out and about to get rolling.  Ponder, Krum and Decatur triangle on 380 westward and 287 intersection are going nuts. Sanger is starting to spring to life with the new high school coming on line.

Whitesboro is sitting right at cusp of 4A and just passed a bond to help address some growing pains.

Van Alstyne growing but probably 4-6 more yrs at 4A, same with Farmersville.

Melissa and Anna stay 5A another realignment at least until 2028.

Community HS is booming and looking 5A next go around.  Sherman and McNorth will be 6A unless the number crazy changes. Azle and Aldeo will be 6A next time as well.

Walnut Grove probably 6A and Panther Creek 5A, Prosper Richland 5A to start but growth on that side of Prosper is going the fastest in the district.

Royce City Worthy opens as a 5A, Denton #5 opens as a 5A in 2027 I think.

Celina is about to start a massive high school add on if they haven't already, they will fight the 2nd HS as long as possible.

Mabank, Crandall and Kaufmann are all about to get some of this mess too.
