I don’t disagree. I do not believe Carthage would beat Aledo under any circumstance. But,  Aledo is not in the group of 5AD2. I do believe Carthage would have the most championships of all the 5AD2s we mentioned but as mentioned previously, they would not have as many as they have obtained in 4A.

There would be years when some of the teams mentioned (such as SOC) would win. Aledo being a similar anomaly as Carthage but at a higher level.

Aledo's not in 5A-D2 now but they were in 5A-D2 for a long time and basically prevented pretty much else from winning a state title for a decent chunk of that time.....thus limiting anyone else from racking up titles and they would have prevented Carthage from winning titles as well IMO

If you take the 4A-D2/5A-D2 champs from the years Carthage won state titles in their respective divisions I wonder how many of those Carthage teams would win state in 5A-D2....I'd say maybe 2?? (2008 and 2017?) So they'd have just as many state titles as South Oak Cliff....I think if Aledo wasn't in the way SOC would have 3 titles that 2018 team pushed Aledo big time in the regional semifinals that year...it was kind of SOC's introduction as a legit contender

2008: Sulphur Springs

2009: Aledo

2010: Aledo

2013: Aledo

2016: Aledo

2017: College Station

2019: Aledo

2020: Aledo

2022: South Oak Cliff

I would say besides 2017 Dawg 2019, 2020, and 2022

would have give Aledo a battle.
the Dawg Oline in 2019 averaged 308 pounds and man handled LaVega with ease in the state championship.
Dawg 2020 had both loaded on both sides of the ball.
Dawg 2022 was in my opinion one of the best Dawg teams.

2019 Aledo was pretty loaded, as good as Carthage was not sure they'd handle that Aledo bunch; Bearcats featured the last of the Bishops at QB; WR JoJo Earle (Alabama/TCU), RB/DB DeMarco Roberts (Lamar), DB Bryan Allen (Texas/North Texas), RB Jase McClellan (Alabama/Falcons), WR Money Parks (Utah), DE Chris Wright (North Texas), TE/DE Jason Llewellyn (Oklahoma)

2020 Aledo was equallly loaded QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi (Colorado State), WR JoJo Earle (Alabama/TCU), RB/DB DeMarco Roberts (Lamar), LB Ryan Williams (SFA), TE/DE Jason Llewellyn (Oklahoma), DB Jaden Allen (Arkansas), WR Jalen Pope (Oklahoma State), DT Ansel Din-Mbuh (Washington State)

2022 Carthage-SOC would have been a FASCINATING game because SOC had a generational defense, the offense was....umm...good enough lol

SOC had RB/DB Jayvon Thomas (Texas A&M), DB Manny Muhammad (Texas), DB Taylor Starling (North Texas), DB David Spruiells (North Texas), WR Randy Reece (SMU), DB Abdul Muhammad (SMU), LB Brandon Jones (UTEP), LB Dylan Brown-Turner (UTEP), DE Billy Walton (Texas), WR Trey Jackson (Texas Tech), RB Danny Green (Texas Southern), LB Jayden Shelton (committed to Arkansas will be a senior in 2024), OL Jordan Smith-Rowe (Louisiana-Monroe), OL Jaden Smith-Rowe (Louisiana-Monroe), OL Brione Ramsey-Brooks (TCU)

You left out the most important equation to the what if theory.
Coach S and company never loose in a state championship game. There is a reason he has 10 rings. 9 with the Dawgs and one with Texas High.

I could be wrong but wasn't coach Buchanan 8-0 in State Championship games with Aledo..??

As good as Surratt is, Buchanan is resume wise, his equal, he's got 8 rings as a head coach, 3 others as an AD of the program he built...not a math guy but that equals 11 rings

You have a reading comprehension problem. I never said beat Aledo.
Go back and read it again. I said those Dawg teams could have played with Aledo and held their own. The 2019 O line was better than Aledo. The 2017 and 2022 defense was also better. My Homer opinion. Keep trying Lion 70. You do add color to anything that mentions my Dawgs. I think this years Dawgs is going to hurt your feelings again.

You said plenty of times and getting defensive proves it! You might not said it on this thread but you definitely implied years ago. Carthage was the greatest!!!!

I really like getting into Cc delusional attitude! I always root against the dawgs and dogs !

Thank you, I do ask to please evaluate the 2020 Bulldogs again as a refresher, while also doing the same for the unquestionably strong Aledo Bearcats.

I’ve said many times I believe only a few teams we’ve had would be able to defeat an Aledo, Longview, etc and have never said we’d be able to win 6A, not going there.

I have said in a one time head-to-head with a truly special Carthage team we could have beaten one of those juggernauts, and that’s not taking away from them in any way whatsoever.

I have the utmost respect and admiration for Aledo, and don’t want for our Bulldogs to have to play in 5A-D1 and above week in and week out.

A one time game though, shoot, let’s roll the dice!

Now, let’s hope the Carthage Bulldogs are ready to beat those Kilgore Bulldogs!

And spouting off unrealistic predictions seems on par for some Carthage fans lol

I hear you.  It’s fun to daydream.

😃

We didn’t win our own classification last year so we need to hush and worry about our own level again, which is why I said we need to get ready for those Kilgore Bulldogs and focus on our schedule.

Every one of those teams will be gunning for us.

Granted… Carthage is the best 4A program in the state and I’ll easily admit it lol
