According to DCTF Matt Stepp Kilgore is picked to win state in 4A DI and Carthage is picked to win state in 4A DII. Is there a better week 1 match-up across the state?

There's no better match up, and I didn't know that they had Kilgore over  Chapel Hill cause they both seems maybe equal in teams.

according to Tepper though Stephenville is picked to win state in 4A D1...🤷‍♂️...either way this should be a fun one to watch....Kilgore's defense is really good and will give them a chance to win every game they play this year....offense has potential to be good as we are loaded with speed and very talented at skill positions....the big question is the Oline though as we will be very young on that side as we break in some new guys....we may struggle on that side (especially against Carthage Dline) early in the season until they get rolling...the good part is they get to practice everyday against our own elite Dline to hopefully be ready for our non-district schedule...cant wait and I just hope we stay healthy!!

hopefully, 4th times a charm for Kilgore this year 😉...41-36 2 OT loss in 2021...24-21 loss in 2022..and 21-19 loss in 2023...that's how close they have been to Kilgore playing in the  State semi or Championship instead of Chapel Hill....dang I hope they get it done this year....cant wait!!!

I mean last year It was 2 good close games between Kilgore vs Chapel Hill, its looking like  another repeat from last year just Dnt know what team would pull it off in the trenches later.

honestly, the District championship game Kilgore won 39-16 and it really wasn't even close....Kilgore was by far the better team that night and came out from the start playing like their hair was on fire....the playoff game was just the opposite with Chapel Hill coming out and punching Kilgore in the mouth going up 21-0 in first qtr....they didn't score again the entire game...the difference was how well Chapel Hill defense played Kilgore that game vs the first meeting...just could never get in sync and when we finally started going we ran out of time....🤷‍♂️

To me this is the ultimate match up game:

Kilgore D-Line VS. Carthage O-Line

Carthage WRs VS.Kilgore CBs

Kilgore LBs VS. Carthage RBs

And let's not forget

The coaches! Carthage does a really great job of making adjustments. I'm thinking it'll be a close one again.

Would it really be a Dawgs vs Dogs game if it was any other way?

I wish there was a way they both lose , however Kilgore probably gets the W!  Should be a close game!

Win or lose though, I don’t see either one of the teams going 1-9 or 2-8 like another team in the area….

This’ll be a great game! Kilgore always plays us tough a d has athletes.

We have to hope our DL can get plenty of pressure and cause some errant passes and squash some runs before they get started.

I’m looking forward to this matchup.

We know what we have with KJ and to some extent, Jett at QB even though it’s only his second year to start.

Our defense will be more seasoned this year and should perform better overall than last year.

It will be a tall task week 1 for our young Oline against that Carthage Dline....that's the only thing that worries me early is if we can sustain drives long enough to give  our D a break....I think our defense will give us a chance in any game but heck if they are on the field too much, especially in this heat things eventually break down....we have the weapons on offense to cause problems but obviously it starts with the big boys....I think they will be fine overall but definitely need some work in areas...Playing Carthage will make us better for sure....should be a good one!!!

Season openers are often hard to predict; I certainly don’t know who will win this one. However, I do know that it has been a very long time since Carthage lost a game at home.
