I may be wrong but the potential just based on speed alone may very well match if not surpass just a bit the backfields of the glory years. I did say "potential", they have a LOT to live up to be compared those guys. Going to be quite a season to see. Just hope our fan base will pick up. There may be something "magical" happening around the "Catz Den" this season. So get your shakers and signs ready now. They nearly aren’t as physical as those guys were. Waskom is small and fast. They will be good on offense, but I think they will end up having to out score people if they face a good offense.

It will take a full year for Coach to get the kids dialed in to his system and to play with the discipline and physicality that it requires to win the big games. Understand that the 'Dawgs are losing a lot from last year's team, particularly from the offensive side of the ball. We shall see!! Should be a precursor for the playoffs perhaps. I heard they lost a Kicker and a LM this week.. I say wildcats by 14+

I hate to hear that. They should be their for the Wildcats during bad days as well as good days. What’s Waskom running? Joaquin runs the slot t right? Is that what the new guy brought in?

I give him credit for sticking with what’s worked for the last decade. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

He has changed flexbone a little has the QB in the pistol and he also likes to heave the ball deep to keep those corners honest, at least that is what I seen in the scrimmages.

Sounds like good sound changes. Keep the defense honest. Does nothing but help your run game. I like the pistol. IMO gives the QB an advantage with play development. Just make sure you got a sound center.

We had the snapping problem in the first scrimmage, the Tenaha scrimmage we had a new center and no bad snaps. I have found that the QB needs to keep his eye on what is happening instead of trying to picked the ball up like a short stop

As the season progresses those snaps will be like clockwork and it’ll make that flexbone easier on the eyes than it already was. One of my favorite offenses. Glad he didn’t bring the slot t. It has its uses if you have a lack of talent, but Waskom doesn’t have that problem. It’s boring as hell to watch. Effective but still boring. IMO anyways.

I guess what I meant is they will need a full year under his system to realize their full potential. By “big games” I meant games against teams that can match them athletically. Example: Timpson. They lost one defensive tackle to graduation, Tyler kid left, and a big kid who would have been starting at offensive and defensive tackle is no longer with the team. They are young and THIN. And yeah, fall ball starts today so there will be 20 very athletic kids practicing baseball instead of suiting out for football.

QB has to watch the ball to his hands and then look at the defense whereas under center he can look at the defense and take snap. Both ways have their pros and cons.

Gen7Dragon
Waskom. I was really high on Garrison until I saw part of the Beckville scrimmage. IMO they looked awful. A shell of what they were last year.
