31 game streak is over within 18 days. That’s guaranteed.

I’d be shocked if Gunter loses to Kinkaid. I will be even more shocked if they stay within 12 of Anna.

The streak may come to an end in one of these games, but I bet there aren’t any other 3A DII teams aching to play the Tigers this year.

Agree - I think Gunter wins vs Kincaid but likely takes an L vs Anna & Celina.  If they survive this stretch with no major injuries, Gunter will likely end up with the last laugh in Dec.

Don't know much about Kinkaid other than Vince Youngs son is the QB and they have a pretty good RB. Gunter should win but it could be just by a whisker. I think Gunter will stay close to Anna & Celina for a half, then their size and depth will just wear the Tigers down.

VY’s son is a freshman. Kinkaid has a very good senior that is in his 3rd year as starter.  DCTF has Gunter as a 2 point dog at home, but Massey Ratings gives Gunter an 86% chance to beat Kinkaid with a projected score of 42-20.  Right now these ratings favor Anna (62%) and Celina (64%) with scores of 35-28 (Anna) and 36-28 (Celina).

Got to play non district games vs teams that will test you, and not be afraid of losing.. Aledo may lose to Guyer this week, or win..either way, weaknesses will be exposed, and tense pressure situations will be practiced in real time. The games don’t count,  it they do count in the film room, and practice the next week.

The gunter folks need to eat a little humble pie and understand where they fit in the hierarchy of Texas HS football.  Anna and Celina are going to force feed them that pie.

Much bigger schools.  Even if they win it better be by a lot.  Gunter will do well in their class

If they don’t they are in trouble in their classifications

Some of yall are wild. Gunter is not going to be humbled by playing up multiple classifications. Premier programs seek out challenges. If they keep Anna and Celina within 3 scores they'll roll back to Arlington December.

Is there really that big if a difference between gilmer and pleaseant Grove ? No. Either team is going to throttle us. It's just for us to get better. Same reason Gunter is doing it now. But we've always done it. Always.

I'm not sure why you think "Gunter folks need to eat a little humble pie".  Where are all the Gunter folks who are predicting some kind of pre-district sweep for which they need to be humbled?  You understand that Gunter is a 3AD2 team, right?  Let's assume Gunter loses to Anna and Celina (probably a fairly safe assumption).  How is losing to the #19 ranked 5AD2 team and the #4 ranked 4AD1 team supposed to humble 3AD2 Gunter?  Anna is likely a playoff team in 5AD2 and Celina is CERTAINLY a playoff team in 4AD1.  You think they want a pre-district schedule where they beat everyone 63-0?  Where's the preparation in that?  The very fact that they accepted the Gunter games shows that at least THEY view Gunter with enough respect to expect that game to be competitive enough to help prepare them for a competitive regular season.  That's what these games are for.  In other words, if they expected to just stomp Gunter by 6-8 scores, they probably wouldn't have taken the games to begin with.  I don't expect to sweep pre-district.  I would not be at all shocked if Gunter enters district with a 1-3 record.  The only thing wins in those games do for Gunter is keep a 31-game win-streak alive.  I don't expect that streak to survive this year's pre-district schedule.  A 35-game winning streak would be nice heading into the regular season by playing teams you should beat anyway, but it's just bragging rights. Having Anna and Celina respect you enough to accept a game to prepare them for their season 3 and 4 classifications up in which they will be extremely competitive is a worthy trade-off and a bigger brag than a winning streak in my opinion.  I'll take the respect shown by taking the games and the preparation Gunter will get out of it over a win-streak.  Win streaks are great.  The only streak I actually care about is the possibility of a 6-game winning streak to end the season.  I'll take that streak over extending the overall streak of 31 any day, and if losing games against highly-ranked teams several classifications up you are supposed to lose to helps the chances of ending the season with a record of 6-0, then so be it.

Great post Pax!  Only concern I have fighting multiple levels above your division is injuries.  Playing Celina or Anna close and losing a key player for the year due to injury is counter productive.  If Gunter survives this gauntlet with minimal long term injuries, I will crown you guys myself!

Thinking gunter fans would ever be humble was a miscalculation on my part for sure.  As far as Celina and Anna playing you guys sometimes teams are just looking for a sure win at home.  It’s like Alabama vs. Western Kentucky, gunter is Western Kentucky in this scenario just to be clear.

You can have kids hurt just as easily playing someone that you beat by 60 as someone that beats you by a TD. The only difference is that you pull your starters early in that blowout, thus limiting their exposure to injury. On the flip side, you have your starters getting fat by feasting on cupcakes and they aren’t ready to play 4 quarters when you get deep in the playoffs. Hats off to Gunter for scheduling up and providing a chance for their kids to excel.

I understand both sides.  As a fan of the game, I applaud them as well.
