Not those that know, just those that think they know. Like you

I do know one QB has 20+ wins and a State Championship on his resume.

The other QB has NEVER won a game as a starting QB in High School.

Tennison is nursing a hamstring injury and didn't get to play much..he will be used in the wildcat this year. Yes he won but doesn't want to play quarterback and welcomed the new kid when he came

Is the bigger one the foreign exchange student from France or wherever or is that the Canó kid?

Lucas Cano is a returning starter for Gilmer and got 2nd place in discus at state last year.  The foreign exchange student from France is bigger than him.  I’m not sure why he didn’t play.

It’s funny because the same thing was said last yr about him not wanting to play QB. But guess what they made him play it and we had a backup last yr that’s better than the new kid we got now. It looks to me they are going off his last name:

How does a kid have a choice on what position he’s going to play?

Maybe the kid would like a football scholarship and wants to show his skills at the position he would play in College. It wouldn’t be at QB. He delivered your town a Ring. I don’t see anything wrong with the Coaching staff or him wanting to move to Receiver or DB and getting him some attention from the College recruiters.

9/10 college players are not playing the position they did in high school.

Don't knock her she can fix a '67 Camaro.  Since I'm a P.T. alumni, I had to check the score.  I see this, and thought of this :

What happened to Gilmer?

Jacksonville is what happened to Gilmer.

Tennison was not out. He played a grand total of 3 snaps on offense and played maybe half the game at corner on defense. He stood by himself on the sideline all night and seemed to not be very happy about the situation.

Jacksonville has a very strong arm and his mechanics are very good. Just not accurate and isn't mobile. Gilmer has never done well and never won a State Championship with a one dimensional QB.

Gilmer Defense played a good game.

LOTS of players from both teams were cramping and had various injuries, so hopefully everyone will be alright and nothing will be too serious for either team.

Good Job goes to Pine Tree. They are improved, and the kids played tough the entire game. They have a very good kicking game and I like their QB.  Also they had one player, #41, who is built like a fire hydrant and plays through the whistle every down. I would take him on my team in a heartbeat.

Next week in Chappel Hill is going to be a long night for Gilmer if Jacksonville plays the entire game at QB.

Let's not all get too hasty with criticism on a new quarterback in the first game. There are always issues early in the season with rhythm, timing and the routs run by receivers, which is only multiplied when you add in a new quarterback.

There is also the issue of the offensive linemen blocking. Again, first game and there were a lot of defensive players in the backfield plenty of downs causing problems. But I would have liked to seen more mobility from the QB as well. Gilmer usually has that dual threat available.

You mentioned a strong arm and good mechanics. I saw several passes with good placement that were dropped by receivers. Some that weren't great but catchable, with hands on, that were dropped also. The only pass that was thrown way off, the receiver was not running full speed until the ball was in the air. Could have been a miscommunication about the route or just lack of effort.

One other issue, the young man from Jacksonville as you stated has a name. Brady McCown. If you left that out in kindness and respect that is all good, but for some reason I doubt that was you intention. These players are just kids. If the coaches and other players don't have an issue why would anyone watching the game have one?

Thank you! Well said.

Gilmer will probably win state again this year. They have things to work out like most, and PineTree is good

Probably not but both will be fine! Pine Tree isn’t Jacksonville and is expected to contend in a very competitive district!  Over reacting in the first game is ridiculous!

I missed this in the offseason, but was surprised a McCown left Jacksonville is their a story here on why the transfer?

Probably plenty of stories.  I'm just assuming here. Young man puts in a ton of work to reach goals. Keeps working and never sees results. Has the opportunity to go to a place that hopefully his hard work will result in wins. I do know the kid puts in work

Referring to the kid as "Jacksonville" is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen on here and let me tell ya, Check my post history and see some of the things I've said and you know that you've won the "I forget to chew my food" award.
