No doubt. If the QB comes back and that defense stays healthy, Lufkin would be a hard out. Especially in R3.
1WildCat
Lobos should win this scrimmage, but Marshall played with grit last Friday. Has promise to be a decent game.
Grainraiser
I think Longview will play much better this week but the offense is still behind. I'm gonna go Longview 21 Marshall

MattStepp
I thought Lufkin would give Longview fits and they did.....didnt see 7-3 coming lol Marshall rolling Tyler shocked me... Cant pick against Longview but this one isn't going to be the usual Longview coronation...I think Marshall makes em work for it
Gametyme
#31 for Longview is a problem. I've re-watched that game a few times now and Marshall is going to have to figure where that kid is at and run the other way. Committed to Harding university but I feel like some D1 FCS programs are gonna come calling if he has the season I think he’s about to have.

But run the other way and you have to deal with Brenden Reese lol

They've been doing it for years, why won't they be able to do it this time? I think Longview's SR and JR classes crushed Marshall a combined 97-14 as freshmen. I'm telling ya, if Longview is playing their football...it's going to be business as usual.

Really blown away and I agree running at Reese probably isn't a great choice either lol

Mavchamp
Pulling for my Mavs. But 22 years out of 23 years of disappointment has a way of numbing you. Longview should be a multiple score favorite. We have to prove we can even keep it close before we can even discuss an upset. Think about how many of our best teams Longview beat easily 2004- State finalist: Longview won 40-15 2005- State finalist: Longview won 28-16 2007- Region Semi-finalist: Longview won 41-7 2009 Region Semi-finalist: Longview won 47-30 2015- Region Semi-finalist: Marshall won 28-25 2018- Region Semi-finalist: Longview won 60-14 Kinda of says it all. And we don't even know if Marshall is anywhere near as good as some of those past Mav teams.

Playboy15
I've said it till I got laryngitis Players are 60% of the win, Coaches are 40% of the win. The only person who will be on the field Friday night, who was on the field for the games from 2004 through 2018. will be John King. If the coaches don't matter Jerry Jones is wasting a whole lot of money looking for a coach who can win the Big One!!!. Friday night we will see what Coach Hammett can do

Friday night we will see what Coach Hammett can do Rodney Southern and Claud Mathis are both amongst the top coaches in the state. They are both winless against Longview. Alvarez was one of the winningest coaches in TXHSF and he never beat them. At the end of the day..... Longview is a school with 800+ more students than MHS. And a program that is currently at a performative and talent level which NO ONE IN EAST TEXAS can even come close to. NO ONE. Just look at their record Vs. Marshall, Lufkin, Tyler, Legacy, Texas High, Sulphur Springs, Pine Tree, Jacksonville, Whitehouse, Hallsville, Mount Pleasant the last 20 years. Blowout after blowout after blowout. And if they actually have a close game, they generally find ways to win. People want to get bent out of shape about how Longview fans view their opponents....especially ETX opponents.... just look at their record. They walk the walk so they are allowed to talk to talk. But smack talking a team we're 1-23 against since Pleistocene era makes ZERO sense.
