I wish Marshall and Kilgore would pick up their series again. Was usually highly competitive. Then Longview can play Carthage. Or the Cowboys. Or whoever they deem to be good competition.

The game would not only be more competitive… it would have a bigger crowd.

That would make a ton of sense. Longview is in a tough spot. They have to travel so dang for. They may do it just to have one game that doesn’t cost a fortune in diesel to and fro for a contest.

I don't know what is then.

Longview is 65-24-3 against Marshall in the past 93 years against Marshall.

In the last 55 years, Marshall has 9 total victories.

The Mavs have scored 25 points now in the last 4 years combined. In the current 9-game Lobo winning streak, the Mavs have scored just 74 total points...for an average of 8 a game, scoring twice in a game just three times.

Marshall's had their moments, usually early on. But I dunno. If ending the series is not the answer after the domination Longview has had...I don't know what is.

It’s called denial.
its hard to admit when you’re wrong.
And anyone defending this is dead wrong

All of that is fine,  I'll say this, and I'll be through with it I'd rather lose to Longview at the beginning of the season, than get beat in a State Championship game 59-0. That's why SOC schedules DeSoto,  Duncanville,  North Shore,  and Longview. SOC, with all of their State Championships, and with all of their athletes got rolled by North Shore. If we expect to make the playoffs and advance beyond the first 2 rounds, we had better be ready, because we'll have to play them (SOC). I guess that it depends on what your ultimate goal is. Do you just want to be a big fish in a small pond, or do you want  be a big fish? I don't ever again want to try an explain how my team lost a State Championship game 59-0. I'll take my lumps early and learn from it.

But here’s the deal.

Last year we lose to Longview the same way we did tonight.

Yet we played the #5 team in the state in 5A-Div II to a 21-14 game.

What makes you better?   Getting throttled by a team significantly bigger and more talented team than you….

Or losing a close, competitive game to a top tier team in your own classification?

Losing to a 6A team 49-7 doesn’t seem nearly as productive as losing to a top 10 team in your own classification by 7.

Let’s go find a top 10 5A Div II team to battle.  Because this game is a total waste of time unless you are trying to punish your punt team

Good plan.  But where can you find a good 5A Div II team to play?  We can't seem to do it

A #5 team that many say we should have beaten. If that's the case, other than on paper,  were they really #5? What if we had played  SOC or PNG?  Like you said, we played the then #5 ranked  5ADII team in the state 21-14. But that was after getting beat by Longview 49-7.  To get the same results,  I'll take my49-7, or my42-7 beating every time.

Agree to disagree.

I think a TOUGH competitive September game against a quality 5A Div II team win or  lose (21-17, 21-17, 24-21) is exponentially more constructive than a blowout.

Gotta be willing to travel.

Just somewhat recently we had to travel to New Caney and North McKinney for some really GOOD games.

The positives of those New Caney and North McKinney battles were exponentially more constructive than any game we’ve had against Longview.

Kilgore, Carthage, Gilmer and Chapel Hill wipe the floor with pretty much every 5A-DII team around here.

We were talking about top 10 5A teams. But you are welcome to your opinion. Carthage is most years would be a handful but I don't see the others "wiping the floor" with top 10  5A schools.

Lose by1, or lose by 59, in the playoffs when you lose, Your OUT !!!

Nac has played all three of these teams most recent was Kilgore and if we be fair the only team we haven’t beaten in that number was the two times we played Gilmer and chapel hill  we have beaten Carthage during their state runs and we’ve beaten Kilgore. Just saying.

Why not? We look like a middle school band out there with shorts and t shirts on.

Every band right now looks like a middle school band then. Lol

Lufkin wore shorts and shirts last week...they normally don't even wear their uniforms for the first few weeks..

I was at Legacy vs Tyler High last night and both their bands had shorts and shirts...

I wish we would've started doing this stuff sooner to be honest.

I don’t know why anyone, especially a Marshall fan, would want this series to continue. I’m not trying to be funny, but do you not get tired of getting your butts kicked every year?

If anyone that’s in charge of scheduling this game is in Smoaky, then listen to the fans….STOP this ridiculous series.

I also agree with many others, as it relates to our offense. I said this last week, the current starting QB is not going to lead us very far. A couple of good runs and a 35 point win over Marshall should not be reason enough to defend him as the starter. Unfortunately, it’s all King will look at.

If he is our starter all season, I fear our playoff streak will end.

In most years none of these teams would beat Texas High with the exception of maybe Carthage.  THS owned Kilgore when they played every year some years back.  And the program at TH has only improved.  You may sneak up them once in a while but these teams won't do it more than once.  Get real.
