Polls in College football mean nothing to the world, except to the 16 people in that room at the end of the year........

But really, the SEC has 5 teams in your top 10.......and they were 1-3 against ranked opponents this past weekend.

Georgia, until they lose should be everyone's #1, they freaking dominated Clemson, a ranked team.....but the rest, that actually won, played a scrimmage game, except for Vandy....I thought they played awesome against a regularly .500 team.

The A&M/Notre Dame game seemed like a game that could have gone either way, just wasn't the Aggies year.

Hopefully this next week will make the SEC look a little better as far as opponents go. I mean Arkansas Pine Bluff......That's like SFA playing North America......

We know the polls mean nothing.  All it does is combine x # of opinions into one larger opinion.  Until week 5 or 6, most teams won’t be tested so it’s hard to get a decent read on any of it

Pump the brakes whoever is voting OU. We played the literal worst team in D-I.

No one should be thinking of us as a Top 10 team at this point. No one.

Amazing an OU fan not wanting their team ranked, and every Longhorn fan thinking they're #1, but that's every year.

Funny thing, I haven’t seen a single list that has them higher than 3. I did see one, however, that has Texas at 9. Now let’s talk about ridiculous. Some simply hate them and are incapable of voting without that emotion.

People fail to realize what information we have to go off on for a week 2 poll.  So, I will list them:

1. Perception from last year
2. Returning players from last year
3. A poor week 1 opponent in 98% of the cases.
4. How dominant they were vs that poor opponent.

Look, sorry the Aggies lost.  I thought they were a top 15 team, and they very well may be.  I also thought Notre Dame was a #12-15ish school also.  Time will also tell on that.  Texas was dominant, they looked like they haven't missed a beat in the off-season and look like they can compete for an SEC title AFTER ONE WEEK.  Which in the grand scheme of things doesn't mean ####.

Hopefully, this clears it up for some of you.

Points 1 and 2 is what I've stated for years, as it relates to preseason polls.

3 and 4 is why I didn't change much from my week 1 ranking. I dropped Oregon and Michigan a few slots for struggling with those weak opponents while moving Alabama, Ole Miss, and Penn State up. Otherwise, my Top 10 were the same 10 teams in week 2.

I kind of feel like this year will be like last year. There is no really "great" team like we have been used to seeing this millenium.

I think it's going to be the opposite. I think this season has the potential to be one of those years where we see 3-4 great teams.

I am with you.  It feels like Georgia and Texas are top notch.  I would guess the B10 winner will be there as well.  The 2nd tier of teams will make the playoffs interesting.  I believe teams like LSU, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, USC, etc will be capable of beating any of the top 4 automatic qualifiers.

It’s going to interesting to see how many SEC and Big10 schools get in the playoffs. You’ll have 1 G5, at least 1 Big12, and at least 1 ACC.

I think their will 4 SEC teams at the least and honestly you may could argue for 6 if things go a certain way.

I can see that, but it will take a terrible showing from the big 10 imo. If I had to guess right now I’d say 4 SEC, 3 big 10, 2 ACC, 1 big12 and 2 G5 teams. Think you’ll see something like a Boise st at 11-1 and a Memphis at 11-1 making it interesting for a 2 loss big 10 or sec team.

I don't think they will put two G5 teams in. Especially with 1 loss.

We will see how it falls, but I don't see how they could pick a G5 team with one loss over an SEC team with 3 losses if they are doing it the way they say they do.

Like lets take Oklahoma with 3 losses.

Lets say those losses are Texas, Alabama, and LSU. That means they beat Tennesee, Ole Miss, and Missouri who are all top 15 teams. They will have 3 wins better than any win that a G5 team would have and probably better than any Big 12 team or ACC team.

What is the point of 12 teams if you are going to punish people with hard schedules?

People are going to question and complain no matter how many teams are in the playoff.

The point of the playoff, is

A) It's a REAL playoff.

B) It decreases the bias.

There is room for even more now actually.

G5 schools aren't playing the same sport as most of the P5 schools. They just aren't. Just like Gilmer wouldn't beat Duncanville. They should just have their own playoff and be done with it.

Many people believe that's where it's heading. Until it does, they do deserve the same opportunity as every other team playing the same level.

That is the fundamental issue that we disagree about. They already aren't playing the same level, so they deserve nothing.

If they win their games, they do. That's the point of the game, winning.

For two G5 teams to make it in both would have to be 13-0 conference champions and ranked in the top 12.

Exactly right! No reason to dispute this and could realistically happen. I could see a American and mountain west doing this!
