Yea it was so bad he ended up at Ohio state what a year later. I dont know if he coaches again either but if you're Florida I would think hes got to be near the top of their list of calls after Napier is gone.

No doubt but apparently Ohio state was his dream job. I'm sure there will be talks about it. Napier was the rising star in the profession so I bet they do go with a coach trying to make more money or to improve their ability to win.  I.E (Lincoln Riley leaving OU for USC)

I would think Lane Kiffin will use them to get a raise with no true intention of leaving Ole Miss..NIL has changed the landscape so quickly that a few wealthy alumni and donors can get you the talent you need.

Saban talked about for the first time since Kiffin has been at Ole Miss they finally have the guys in the trenches to compete with Georgia and Alabama. I guess we will see.

I just want my team(Baylor) to have another down year so we can hire Jeff Traylor.

I’m starting to think A&M is one of the most overrated and I’m not trying to be negative about A&M just objective.

A&M, like Florida, are in a tough conference and seem to be in a funk, but now big brother and big cousin have returned and the Aggies no longer have any kind of possible recruiting advantage.

They have a rabid fanbase, but overly involved Big Money Ags who STILL encourage Old Army thinking and the decisions they make are ill advised more often than not.

A&M has never been able to get out of its own way.  I’ve had a good Aggie graduate friend of mine suggest BMA’s should just quit wasting money on football, because A&M, as a whole, just doesn’t know how to win no matter what they try.

You do have to give them credit for continuing to try and not giving up, but some Aggies are just beaten down and don’t even pay attention anymore.

All the Aggies I work with, one who walked on as a safety and was pushing to get playing time didn’t say a word after the Notre Dame game.

Previous years would’ve seen those same guys throwing fits, because they were still invested and had hope.

I do still say if A&M lands the right coach they can win big, national title big, but you can’t hire a HC because, “He’d be a good Ag or he understands our traditions..” quit with that foolishness and hire a winner.

I know when A&M hired Jimbo they were hiring someone who’d won a title and had lots of success, but he was also in my opinion, hired, because Aggie leadership thought he’d be a Good Aggie, no doubt; and he did fit in pretty well for a while.

Elko = Good Aggie hire

Anyhow, I think the A&M culture and traditions are hurting more than helping.

While I like your comparison to the Cowboys, A&M's lack of success boils down to QB play/health. The defense has been consistently good for a while. Recruiting and retention has to get better at the QB position.
