ETBU Football opens season with 57-12 win

Recommended Posts

The Tigers rolled to a big win over LaGrange College Friday night at Ornelas Stadium 57-0.

First time I remember a Friday night game in Marshall (especially with the Mavericks playing just 2 miles away) for ETBU.

They will hit the road next weekend to take on Hendrix College in Little Rock, Arkansas at War Memorial Stadium.

----------------

Been pretty quiet with the future of the ASC.

They have 2 years to find 2 members to join otherwise they will lose their automatic qualifying playoff spot into the NCAA D3 playoffs for all sports.

There are a few prospects, but they are highly unlikely.

Rumor mill turning.

Rumors are pointing to Mary Hardin Baylor moving up to FCS and possibly joining the Southland conference.  Hardin Simmons could be headed up to D2 and join the Lone Star conference.  Howard Payne is rumored to be looking at the Sooner Conference of the NAIA.

ETBU I've heard some interesting things.

I've heard that LeTourneau and Centenary are pushing for ETBU to join the SCAC.  Lyons College, Ozarks,  and Hendrix (all 3 in Arkansas) would create a fairly geographically sensible travel pod for the 6 schools.  I've heard some of the western-most SCAC schools are opposed.  We shall see.

I've been told ETBU has looked at the Sooner Conference (NAIA), The Lone Star conference (D2), and the Great American Conference (D2) as a primary conference.

Other options are the Southern California athletic conference, Coast to Coast conference (non-football), Collegiate Conference of the South (non-football), and USA South (football included).

In other words..... no one has any clue what's going to happen if and when the ASC is forced to disolve.

that seems like quite a jump. i know they're a really good d3 program but figured they'd go d2 before going to fcs.

That's what I say.  But apparently they have no interest in being D2....for reasons I don't understand.

Facility-wise they are top notch for FCS....but small.  They would be amongst the smallest FCS schools in the country.

They lost to a top 10 NAIA school this past weekend so all their fans' hair is on fire right now.
