Would love to watch a closeup replay on whether the sack on Gilmer's QB with about 2:00 minutes left was actually a facemask or not............The Kilgore coach didn't think so............Those 32 yards in penalties gave Gilmer a boost.

Man I can say both coaches left me scratching my head. First Gilmer coach elected to not go for two when the ball would have been on the 1 1/2 yard line. Then Kilgore coach just said hey I’m run up the middle with no timeouts instead of just spiking the ball and kicking the game winning FG.

What about the pooch kick at the end.......to their best freaking player. We were very very fortunate tonight.

Ok, a couple of quick observations:

1.  Kilgore is very talented. I believe more talented than C Hill. A lot of athletes all over the field.  And they HIT. There will be a lot of sore Buckeyes tomorrow morning.
2. Both teams still have a lot to improve on. Especially penalties.  You can’t give up 30 yards in penalties on one play if you’re Kilgore.  Also, you can’t be offside on a kickoff that results in 35 yards of field position if you’re Gilmer. And Gilmer has to be more disciplined.  Way too many personal fouls.
3. I still don’t think Gilmer knows who they want to play at QB.  In the end, I think it will be McCown.  Both played well in stretches, and both have their strengths.  The biggest difference is when McCown plays QB, Tennison can be a top quality receiver.  When Tennison plays QB, McCown is on the bench.
4. So the rules:  the 10 second runoff is the rule. At the end of the game, the ref wound the clock after the first down. He then stopped the clock when the Kilgore player went down.  No time went off after he stopped the clock and there was only 6 seconds left. So regardless of how much time was on the clock when Kilgore picked up the first down, the clock stopped for the first down, started back when the ref wound it, and stopped again for the timeout.  With 6 seconds left, game over.
5. I hate to see the actions at the end of the game. Emotion running high, and both teams clearly thought they should have won. I’m glad it wasn’t worse than it was.  Good on coaches on both teams and cooler heads among some of the players to de-escalate.

overall, 2 really good teams in a slug fest.  Both have to like their chances in district and beyond.

The worst officiated game I've witness and I have seen some bad ones.

The face mask call was absolutely 100% not a face mask. I was looking right at it. I don't know how the white hat threw the flag when he didn't have a good view. The side line judge didn't even throw a flag.

Secondly, when Gilmer got the penalty on Kickoff the original time was not restored.

Thirdly, the injury causing the run off was because a Gilmer player was literally laying and rolling on the guy in front of the white hat ( This is on 4k video, as I've seen it before I left the stadium)

Kilgore did all they could but when it came to crucial calls Gilmers Head coach, deacon (white hat) made sure they went against Kilgore.

Absolutely, terrible way to end a game.

And, let's not talk about how classless their players were for running across the field and coaches joining them. Say what you want but I have ZERO respect for Gilmer.

I don’t disagree with any of this.  But why run the ball with that little of time?  No reason to flirt with the L.  You got the best D in 4A.  Stop the clock, kick the FG, and make Gilmer go the length of the field to win with 10 seconds.

Your 2nd point …..If Kilgore runs the kickoff back for a TD, Kilgore declines the penalty and scores the 6 points - it was a “live ball” penalty and not a “dead ball” penalty……the time should have remained off the clock, as it did ….. and I wanted Kilgore to win.

Alot of questionable play calls in my opinion. When Kilgore was single covered bombs should have been thrown. As I didn't think Gilmer DBs could match Kilgores speed one on one. Happen a few times but not near enough.

Lots of things to work on for both teams. But hard fought nonetheless. Hate the call to run it there at the end. Should have just melted the clock down and spiked for the field goal attempt. But some lessons learned maybe for later in the season.
