Not what I expected when I opened this thread.

I still have some question marks about the Carthage Dawgs, but I thought for sure the Yellow Dawgs were gonna be pretty good this year.

I was expecting a close hard fought game similar to the Kilgore matchup.

Same

Depends how CH deals with adversity. They definitely have the talent to win. Gotta keep penalties, turnovers, and special teams miscues at a minimum. CH gonna need a couple of lucky bounces and force a couple of turnovers in order to win. Hoping for a competitive, entertaining game. Win or lose....CH will be better for playing Carthage!

If Carthage has every thing clicking they will play Chapel Hill better than the Kilgore game,Kilgore got lucky, I pick the Red Dawgs in this one by alot, Chapel  Hill can win it but it's a hard task playing a good team and the brains of Surrat, tough task you will know not to pick up that phone the next time 😂 😂 😂

Kilgore got lucky? Really? I do agree Carthage by a bunch! But Kilgore got lucky?

Not even close. KJ ranked number 9 in the nation.
with everyone back that was missing in the Kilgore game. KJ had 180 yards on 6 carries.

Not even close, huh? I think it's kinda close.... Stewart is a 2 time All-State RB, has 6000+ career rushing yards, and he's a 4-star UT commit. He's also done all this without a consistent passing game. Also, he ran for 225 yards on 10 carries against Jasper this year. There are good high school players outside of Carthage FYI 😂

You've seen both play....what's your thoughts?

I think they're both phenomenal HS running backs. Site I'm looking at has Edwards ranked #5 RB in the country in his class, Ricky is #17 in his class. Both highly recruited 4-stars. Size and speed are pretty equal.

I would consider Ricky as more of a straight line power runner.... basically one cut and go. Edwards has power too, but to me he's more of a shifty, break your ankles type runner.

Edwards has the luxury of a great passing offense to take pressure off of him. Ricky really only has Brisbon's legs to keep defenses somewhat honest. They can both catch it out of the backfield. I dread playing against either one of them.

You tripping. You can't go wrong with either one. 🤷🏾

Kilgore beat Carthage

CH beat Gilmer

Gilmer beat Kilgore

I was at all three of those games and all three came down to the wire. I will take Carthage in this one and don’t think it will near as close unless Carthage has 5 or 6 turnovers again like they did against Kilgore.

If brisbon is out, we could see a little bit different offense from CH. I’ve hoped since last year that Rio would let the jr qb take Brisbons place and move B to the backfield with Ricky. Or to the slot where he’s flat dangerous with a little bit of space. Of course if B is out, this will hurt. I think the jr qb could be really good. Good size, speed and a decent arm. Just needs work and Ive about come to the conclusion we don’t care about a passing attack. No progression in the passing game the last 3 years.

These games are about matchups, everyone knows the teams we struggle against are the ones with a QB that can run that’s why we lost to CH. Kilgore matched up better with Carthage because they can load the box and play man given Carthage don’t have that much of a threat on the outside like yrs past. I think Carthage wins this one because they can contain the run because CH doesn’t have a consistent passing game.

Passing game has been a struggle for 4 years now.  CH is 1 dimensional on offense and a team that has both size and speed can shut it down.

I don’t get why it has been either. The head coach is the QB coach. You would think after several years with this quarterback, there would be development in the passing game.
this match up regardless will be a good one! Two very talented teams! It will come down to coaching/game preparation.

Considering the quality and rankings of these teams, there sure hasn’t been much discussion on this thread of their upcoming game against each other tomorrow night. Is it because they haven’t played each other lately and the two fan bases aren’t thus very familiar with their team’s opponent this week?
