lionpride08
Troy 5-0 (0-0) Rockdale 3-2 (0-0) Franklin 2-2 (0-0) Cameron 0-5 (0-0) L-R Academy 0-5 (0-0) McGregor 0-5 (0-0) All teams are on a bye week and will start district play next week. WEEK 7 games Franklin @ Troy McGregor @ Cameron Academy @ Rockdale This district is way down compared to what we normally see. This district normally split first round with dist 12 but that could change this year. Cameron and Academy are way down and do not look like they normally would while troy is trying to make a run to the regional final like they did back in 2019. Not sure how everything will shape up this season.
TheCardinal
District 11 should play out as followed: Franklin Troy Rockdale ??? (Doesn't Matter) Even though Franklin dropped out of the DCTF Top 10 Rankings, they're still the favorites to win Region 3. I still think 11 and 12 split the first round in playoffs. The game to watch as a Franklin fan is obviously Columbus vs Hitchcock... The winner of that game "should" win District 12 and will be placed on the same side of the Region 3 bracket with Franklin in the playoffs. It's interesting to me that both Hitchcock and Columbus scheduled Bellville this year... It's as if they were both trying to get a taste of the Slot-T before running into Franklin in the playoffs...essentially a measuring stick game for each program. I honestly believe that was the reason both scheduled bellville. They know someone will have to play Franklin and what to see it before hand. Next week is when the big games happen in both district with Franklin vs Troy and Columbus vs Hitchcock.
Slickarick
Juat judging by the lexington score and being a common opponent. It should be Franklin, Troy, LRA and Rockdale. Week 1 in district will determine 3rd place I believe.

I would not consider anything game Franklin plays in district a big game if they are closer than 35 points each game I would be shocked. Troy is not good they havnt played anyone yet. Franklin should run through their district like Malakoff had the last few years in their district.

Troy is smoke and mirrors like Gbeck was a few years back when they came into Malakoff district unbeaten and finished season with a losing record and got 4th in district. I think Gbeck is smoke and mirrors this season as well. I did tell someone that if we don't win every district game by 28+ then we could be in trouble because of how bad the district has looked this season. That's what I meant. Yeah score shows they were good but from the prior year, there was a difference and there's a difference this season too with them. I'm not saying they are gonna go deep or to the playoffs or anything like that but you get what I'm saying. Take Teague for an example, at one point they looked like a JV team on varsity one year. It's taken them 3/4 years to even get to where they are at now.

So they could be mid to low tier but not bottom feeders like the years before.

Yoe09
This district is collectively down. 1. Franklin - Should be at least 2-3 touchdowns better than the 2nd place team in the district. Just more talent than anyone else and it will show. 2. Troy - 5-0 and Tommy Brashear has the team playing better football. They were improved in 2023 and look to be better in 2024. They have somewhat better talent than what they have had in the past. Are they a top 10-15 ish team - Probably not. Can they be upset by someone else in the district if they don't play well - Yes. 3-6. Free for all. Academy has not looked great at all in the preseason, but their schedule is much tougher than someone such as Rockdale. Transfers out have hurt them. Rockdale has played a soft non-district schedule with the exception of Lexington, and they didn't look good at all in that game. Cameron has struggled mightily with injuries. 7 starters out for the Mexia game and rotating a 3rd and 4th string QB to go along with multiple offensive lineman has hurt what was an already thin roster. McGregor and Cameron play next week. Loser of that game will have no shot at the playoffs. You don't want to finish 3rd or 4th in this district this year. Columbus and Hitchcock have been extremely impressive. Edited October 2 by Yoe09

They just pretty much just out athlete them. Didn't have crazy size or great fundamentals over all. But the athlete difference was huge.
Slickarick
Last week went as expected. I just didn't think Cameron would win by that much, but with that many turnovers hard not too. Franklin is obviously still #1 and Troy most likely is 2 if they stay healthy. 3 and 4 is tough. I think it will be the battle of the bell game and the last game to settle district to solidify #3 and 4. McGregor last, if Cameron wins battle of the bell then the last game vs LRA will be for 3rd. If Cameron looses I don't know how much they put in for week 10.

They still got some good athletes. The qb play and Oline is better this season. The front 7 is okay. Them and GV kill themselves with penalties this season. Seems like a lot of teams that aren't known for getting penalties are getting them this season it seems like. Random thought. If both Whitney and GV play mistake free and penalty free football they could upset the winner/runner up in district 8 teams in the second round.

Having the bye week and getting most of their players back healthy had a lot to do with it I'm sure. We finally got to see the dynamic speed and agility of running back Tim Grice. If that guy gets a step on the competition, very few if any can catch him. Right now, like most, I still have Franklin 1, Troy 2 and the rest up for grabs at 3 and 4. It should be very entertaining to see the playoff picture unfold in this district.

I was impressed how Yoe got TG more involved with him playing in the slot position. That kid is dynamic in the open field. Getting our starting QB helped tremendously. Offensive penalties hurt the Yoemen several times. The defense played the run better. Holding the Bulldogs RB to less than 40 yards rushing. That same back last year had around 200 yards rushing. The secondary made adjustments in the 2nd half. The 1st half that secondary was lost and pointing fingers at each other. The Yoemen have the Troy Trojans coming to town Friday. Troy was able to score on Franklin through the air so the Yoemen better have those secondary issues solved. Yoe’s defensive front should perform well against Troy’s running game. Yoemen vs Troy maybe similar to the Yoemen’s opening game against LaGrange. A high scoring overtime game. This game will come down to, if the Yoemen’s injury report continues to improve and a decline in offensive penalties. We’ll see about the injury report later in the week. Yoe09
No surprises in week one. Troy hung close with Franklin for a while, but the Lions pulled away when they needed to and won the game comfortably. I actually predicted Academy to beat Rockdale as I just felt Rockdale did not have the SOS on their side. Cameron beating McGregor like they did was not a surprise. McGregor just came off giving up nearly 800 yards of offense to Fairfield and Cameron finally got a bit healthy for that district opener. Cameron offense is not as potent as it normally is through the air, but the defensive front performance last week was good, holding McGregor to essentially nothing on the ground. Troy will be favored over Cameron in week 2, but the game has potential to be close. Rockdale @ McGregor could be really close. Franklin will run over Academy. Be happy you get Troy on the road. I have heard from others from teams that they have had the refs in their back pocket during home games this season. I was pretty bad this past Friday. Any momentum you got would have been killed quick. Could have easily been 49-7 at halftime.
lionpride08
Update on this district Rockdale has been eliminated from playoffs and have yet to win a district game. Up next they face Franklin 4-0 in district. As of Right now it is 1. Franklin 4-0 (locked up) 2. Troy 3-1 3/4. Cameron 2-2 3/4. Academy 2-2 5. McGregor 1-3 6. Rockdale 0-
