Update on this district

Rockdale has been eliminated from playoffs and have yet to win a district game. Up next they face Franklin 4-0 in district.

Mcgregor has only one win in district and could really mess up the playoff race with a win as they face 3-1 Troy

Biggest game in the district this week as Cameron will face Academy for the 3rd and 4th place spot in district.

As of Right now it is

1. Franklin 4-0 (locked up)

2. Troy 3-1

3/4. Cameron 2-2

3/4. Academy 2-2

5. McGregor 1-3

6. Rockdale 0-4

Franklin has the top spot wrapped up.  The way I see it:
The McGregor/ Troy game has no effect on the outcome of the district.
McGregors only win is against Rockdale.
McGregors has losses to both Cameron and Little River Academy.  Troy has defeated both Yoe and the Bumblebees for the 2nd place seating.
The Yoe/ Bumblebees game is the only game with consequences.
3rd and 4th on the line.
Just speaking about the Yoemen.
They have had numerous injuries (knees, ankles and shoulders)on both offense and defense. Most have been season ending.  The Yoemen have played 5 different kids at QB, which has affected the way the offense is being called and played.   Defensively it’s been a patchwork of kids on that side of the ball.
Never have I ever seen a Cameron team experience this kind of adversity.

I have heard the same thing about the Yoe. They are banged up really bad and on top of that being so young equals for a bad combo. But they young players will get more playing time and get up to speed for the varsity level quick. The reward is either Columbus or Hitchcock which is a tough draw either way.

This should bode well for the Yoe next season

Regardless of who gets 3rd/4th, Columbus/Hitchcock will be heavily favored.  Even though Hitchcock will be the number one seed, I would lean towards wanting to play them just based on injuries and past performances in the playoffs.

The Troy/Yokaum (if they beat Hallettsville) could be really competitive.  Franklin will cruise.

Cameron is completely banged up.  The issue next year is the lack of really an impactful senior class.  There are several kids in that grade that could be starting on Friday night that are simply not on the field for a variety of reasons.  From what I saw on Thursday nights, Franklin does still have collectively the best upcoming talent in the district, 7th through the JV levels.  Cameron's 8th grade had great success last year by winning the district, but simply looked bad against both McGregor and Franklin.  The kids will need to put in the effort in the offseason to become better, because we do not have the talent we had a decade or so ago.

Your right can’t be mad.  You can be envious though.
Those Franklin Lions have one of the top sport facilities in the state.  I would say the best in 3a.
The Lions have been consistent with their culture and philosophy for many years.
Look across the state.  The programs that fall in that category are consistently going deep in the playoffs.
Nothing but respect from this Yoe fan.

I have been telling people for years the next special class for Franklin coming up would be the 7th grade class combined with the 8th grade class. Franklin 7th grade class has been ate up with injuries this season. Cameron got the 3rd string QB when they played.

How many seniors will the Yoe lose after this season?

Cameron has 15 seniors.  3-4 are injured.  Problem is the senior class next year will have little to nothing and the sophomore class is really hurting in talent.  You combine that with the other classes not being really good or having great talent, and it's going to be difficult to win at the highest level.

The writing was on the wall for Cameron back in 2009.  The Junior High went undefeated at both the 7th and 8th grade levels, playing what was then a full 4A schedule.  Fast forward 3-4 years and we were winning state championships.  We just don't have that sort of talent in the system at any level right now.

Yoe way to many injuries. If healthy all season long they may have beaten Troy.

If Babino has the patience to stay at Yoe, he will get things together.

I predict a few new faces on the staff next season and better team chemistry. They got to find  QB  for next season. I hear they are going to convert one of their wide receivers to QB.  Good luck Coach

I hope Coach Babino stays. He came into an almost impossible situation this year in Cameron.

You are correct 99, QB is top priority and then I would say defense. We have been giving away to many points in the past 3 to 4 years.
