"IF" PG had a QB they would be flat out deadly. Score would be untannable.

He might not be a 10 but I'll tell you who is, that PLEASANT GROVE DEFENSE

The score did not reflect the game

PG is loaded with kids who want to knock your teeth out every play. They swarm the ball, they wrap up and they are disciplined. Coach said at the beginning of the season this is probably the most "coachable" kids he's ever had its shown. The growing pains are over.

yes it is true, and he didnt want to play it last year either

So did they make him play what all of a sudden change? Why would a kid won’t be on the sideline, make that make sense. Also the kid was getting recruited as a DB he just wanted a chance to get some film at that position but never not wanted to play QB.

Ok, a few quick observations

1. Gilmer trails 21-10 with 2:50 left. They have just stopped PG to force a punt.  They call timeout to save clock, and then don’t have or know the right number of kids on the field?!  Inexcusable.  This leads to illegal substitution penalty and basically ends the game.  I have no illusions of Gilmer coming back and winning, but the coaches screwed that up royally.  Gilmer has a great coaching staff.  You can’t argue with the results.  But someone needs to get skewered for that snafu.
2. PG dominated the Loni of scrimmage. Yes, Jackson was the best player on the field, but it was a team effort on the defensive side.
3. I don’t know what to think about McCown. I certainly don’t blame him for the loss last night. Gilmer could never get its running game going, and he had almost no time to throw b/c of the pressure.  I also feel bad for him.  He is replacing a state championship winning quarterback.  Anything less than a championship would be considered a failure.  Over realistic expectations.  He also does everything right.  He’s the right size, sees the field, steps up into the pocket, scrambles when he needs to, and has a cannon for an arm. But his touch on certain passes is horrible. Gilmer scores on the first play of the second half if he leads Webb correctly.  But it’s underthrown, and the defender is able to get back in the play and make the tackle.
3. Gilmer D played really good outside of the first two drives of the game.  It’s awfully hard on a defense when the offense is constantly going 3 and out.

PG was clearly the better team last night. Gilmer will need to do a lot of work to get ready for the playoffs.

As I said earlier in this thread, the ironic thing about being district champion is that you have to play Carthage the day after Thanksgiving whereas the runner-up most likely cruises into the first week of December.

One Gilmer QB in the last 2 years has a knack for feeling pressure and the other one not so much.........If the defense shows a blitz too early, one Gilmer QB usually has saw that blitz coming and adjusts, the other QB not so much.

You know why we couldn’t run it’s because we have no threat with the QB at keeping the ball. Every team that we have faced that have athletes on defense has stopped us from running with just selling out against the run. When 1 got in the game we instantly got 8 yards on two plays then they took him out ok 3rd and 2 and guess what we lost yards on the next play. I don’t fault the other QB he was put in that situation but you can see we have no chemistry with him in there. You can just look at the body language of the kids and it’s starting show more and more every week.

Maybe it's not what Gilmer didn't do but what PG did do

It’s pretty simple.  PG executed and played like they wanted to win.  They were disciplined and executed the game plan in all three phases.  Gilmer did not execute and looked like they were playing their first game of the year.  They just looked “off”.

Is that what happened last year too

Man I’ve slept since then.  I can’t remember last week much less last year!  I’m just hoping Gilmer plays like they played last night next week vs SH.  🤠

Have you? Because you were pretty adamant PG didn't have a chance and now it's Gilmer just looked "off"
