Lindale (4-4) (2-2) @ Pine Tree (7-1) (3-1)

Recommended Posts

Lindale travels to Pine Tree to take on the pirates in a big District 9-4A battle

It is pretty much a must win for the Eagles unless they get some help (if my sources are right about playoff situation)

Lindale blanked Mabank 36-0 last week while Pine Tree won a close one 20-14 over Chapel Hill.

Pine Tree is a very good complete team. I think it will be tough for lindale to get the win.

Lindale is definitely capable of winning. PT will be favored for sure but I think Lindale knowing that they are fighting for their playoff lives will come out focused and determined. They have got to clean up the dumb penalties though. Defense was on fire last night but I think they were getting a little over zealous. Honestly I liked the energy but just gotta stop hitting the qb after he throws the ball lol

Correct me if I'm wrong - take away that drive that had all the penalties in it and Mabank didn't cross mid-field on their own more than once? I think they had 1 long pass play that got them over midfield but drive stalled. Defense was absolutely DOMINANT last night.

Honestly the fact that PT barely beat a depleted CH gives me more hope for Lindale. I thought PT would have won by more

I agree. Lindale will need to play mistake free and very motivated football to take down a very good PT squad.

Where was the Pine Tree vs Chapel Hill played at, I mean what home field did they played at, and this District is so tough that any team can be defeated at any day.

You forget chapel hill is still a great team/ program even though they are depleted? Your acting like chapel hill is like a Palestine or mabank

Without Brisbon and Stewart they are very beatable. That’s no secret

Indeed they are but number 24 for chapel hill arguably played better than Rickey did all season he had 110 rushing yards and didn’t play the first half and brisbon missing you can’t do much without you starting qb nonetheless the chapel hill qb was throwing dots

If Pine Tree can stay focused it is their game to lose. However, it is hard to show up week after week. The Speed of the Pine Tree WR's will give the Lindale DBs trouble. If they an contain the deep ball Lindale could shake up the district with a win here.

To me, I think you hit on the #1 concern for Lindale. We historically are bad against the pass. Plus, we haven’t faced a good passing team yet in district. If PT gets time to throw and our DB’s don’t play well, this game is over. But I will say, this is our best secondary in years. Plus, With our offensive woes this year, we can’t get into shootouts. Our defense was absolutely OUTSTANDING against Mabank…… but it is mabank. PT is 40-50 points better than Mabank. Gonna be fun!

I agree with your point that this is our best secondary in a few years, but I would also say that our defensive front is the best it has been maybe ever. A defensive front that puts pressure on the QB helps when you struggle in the secondary.

Absolutely. My concern is rather than blitzing and applying pressure with our LB's, we only rush 4 and drop 7 and that strategy did not work well against Kilgore or TCH. We need to apply pressure and make that QB nervous. We will see how it plays out Friday night. I am always a fan of blitzing and pressure vs. dropping and keeping everything in front of us.

I mean stat wise you have already faced the best passing team in the district and one of the top in East Texas....🤷‍♂️
