Well your going against a close 2nd in passing the football

Truth be told, Kilgore didn't really throw it around against us that much. Some, but I would not describe them as "pass heavy" a couple weeks ago against us.Ā

Longview paper said he was 14 of 15 for 259 yds and 5 TD's....and I would say we have had way more success throwing the ball this year then running...Our QB has a little over 1,800 yds passing with like 22 TD's...before Palestine game he was 111 for 171 attempts for 1677 yds...I don't think we have RB even make the list for most yds in ETX....which is pretty much backwards....it's usually the other way aroundĀ

I should have been more specific. Vertical pass game. Either way, we got whipped.Ā

Yes. It's called getting the ball in your playmakers hands as quick as you can. And Kilgore has plenty studs.

Sanders, Towns and Graves is the best trio of receivers I've ever seen at Kilgore. They can all 3 house it from anywhere on the field.

I mean stat wise you have already faced the best passing team in the district and one of the top in East Texas....šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Never mind, I saw this was addressed.

Three things can be true at once:

1: Screen game does equal pass yards...Kilgore had a lot of these yards due to their athletes making plays in space

2: Kilgore did not beat Lindale with a vertical passing game. That doesn't mean they couldn't...they definitely have the athletes to do so. They didn't really have to throw it down the field much that night. You could see their plan clear as day on the livestream.

3: When a QB has a lot of passing yards, sometimes context is needed to really know how good they are. For example: If many of the yards come from quick screens and/or jet sweeps then the QB is probably not truly the best passer in the region...but he does have the best athletes in the region to get the ball to.

Just for the record...I think Kilgores QB is very good, but the athletes he is getting the ball to are better than anyone not named Carthage in ETX.

Who is the best QB in the district in your opinion? Thoughts?

Not sure honestly. I've tried to catch every Lindale game that I could, but I don't make it every week. I watched the live stream of the Lindale/Kilgore game. I was there for the Lindale/Mabank game. Haven't made it to another district game live.

Right now I would guess Kilgore's QB. I've never seen anything on Pine Tree but I have heard that their QB is pretty good too.

In my humble opinion Lindale's Qb has potential. Not easy for a sophomore to play up on varsity let alone in this district; good things to come in the future for Lindale. But I would agree Kilgore's and Pine Tree have to be the top Two. Henderson's V. Howard is pretty good himself whenever he is in rhythm and not turning the ball over.Ā  Ā

I agree he definitely has potential. He definitely hasnā€™t been great this year but thatā€™s a lot of pressure that is put in his shoulders especially after missing half of his freshman season due to injury. I just pray that playing as a sophomore makes him an awesome qb his junior and senior years

Can't put a price tag on experience. It's not something you can replicate in off season or practice. He will only improve. By how much? I don't know but he will improve.Ā

I have not watched our jv play this year but I know last night was the closest game they've had in awhile. What was PT's jv record? Have they been pretty solid this year?

The JV QB is very good. Spins a beautiful ball!Ā

He is very good and also a great leader.....really good at firing up his teammates. Great kid, too! Not sure what PTs JV record is, just that they are having a good season as well. My son said it was the 2nd hardest game they've won, with Gilmer being 1st.
