ON THIS DATE IN LOBO HISTORY: November 8th
In 1946, Billy Porter and Danny Fenn each rushed for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to lift Tyler to a 14-0 win over Longview, at Rose Stadium. The Lobos threw 4 interceptions in the loss.
In 1957, Joe Roper rushed in from 5-yards out in the third quarter before Larry Bower capped the Texas High win at Grim Park with a one yard score, as the Tigers defeated Longview, 12-0.
In 1963, Pete Snow rushed in from 3-yards out in the 3rd quarter to lift Texas High to a 20-13 victory over Longview at Grimm Park. James Street and Harold Bridges each tallied for the Lobos in the loss.
In 1968, five different Lufkin Panthers scored as Lufkin dominated Longview, 36-13, at Lobo Stadium. Roland Whitehurst and Alton Coley were Longview’s lone scores on the night.
In 1985, Brian Williams and Thomas Snoddy each scored touchdowns in the second half as Jason Baird kicked a 27-yard field goal to end it as Longview knocked off cross town rival Pine Tree, 16-0.
In 1991, Jason Dodson jumped over from 1-yard out with just under 1:45 to go in the game to lift Longview to a 20-15 victory over Marshall at Maverick Stadium. Andre Davis and John Washington also tallied for the Lobos.
In 1996, Scott Furrh rushed for a touchdown and threw for three along with 323 yards as Marshall shut down Longview, 26-7, at Maverick Stadium.
In 2002, Joel Armstrong rushed for two scores and Fred Hawkins rushed for another but it wasn’t enough as a 22-0 hole was too much to dig out of in a 29-20 loss to Lufkin at Abe Martin Stadium.
In 2013, 6 different Lobos scored touchdowns, as the Lobos built up a 20-0 halftime lead and knocked off Rockwall, 41-7, at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium. Longview rushed for 218 yards on the night.
In 2019, Kaden Meredith rushed for three touchdowns and 162 yards as the Lobos dominated Mesquite at E.H. Handy Stadium, 49-14. The Lobo defense produced 4 turnovers on the night.

Will get the region review up in the morning but...

Longview has clinched a share of the district title. They can clinch the outright crown with a W vs Royse City. Lobos will be the #1 seed in Division II.

Outside of that, 10-6A is still up for grabs.

Rockwall Heath defeating Rockwall this week, along with Tyler Legacy losing to Forney, has eliminated the Red Raiders from playoff contention.

So we have two big games of Rockwall at North Forney and Forney at Rockwall Heath.

If Forney makes the post season, North Forney will go D1. So that would turn their game into a seeding game.

If Rockwall Heath makes the post season, North Forney will go D2 and be the #2 seed. But that would then make the Rockwall/North Forney game a seeding game between Heath and Rockwall, as Heath now would have the tiebreaker if the two teams finishes tie at 3-3.

Basically Forney at Rockwall Heath will decide who goes to what division, while Rockwall at North Forney will decide what the seeds will be all around...except for the Lobos, who clinched things out.

Really. Someone picked Royse City in a blowout win. Yet, they haven't won one district game. I don't know if he is being funny or should I take him serious. 🤔 C'mon Micotrav. 😆

Looking forward to hosting the game between our Royse City Bulldogs and the Longview Lobos, but there are some minor corrections about the history of the Royse City Bulldog Football program.  I believe the history given above has Royse City football beginning in 2010, actually the records will show that the Bulldogs started playing football in 1911 and this is our 113th season. Also, it shows that in that period that we have 32 playoff appearances, when actually we have 52 playoff experiences, now we have only been successful by winning 32 of those 52 appearances.

And even though we have not had the success of the Longview Lobos and the very impressive State Championships along with the State Championship appearances, we do hold a distinction of having one of the longest consecutive winning streaks in the 1950's when Royse City was a Class B program because of our school size. Our team went 39 consecutive games without a loss, which at that time, was only behind Abilene for consecutive wins. We also had a few other distinctions of defeating Bells 98-0 in the 1950's, we tried to keep the score down, but that was impossible. We did outscore our opponents 595-13 in a 12 game season. We could only play through the Regional Round back in 1956 because our classification did not play further than that. In 1961 the Bulldogs went 9-1 in regular season play outscoring their opponents 256-8. We also have had players that went on to be All Americans in College, even one that was praised, by one of TCU's greatest coaches, Dutch Meyer, as the famous coach said that our quarterback was better than Slingin' Sammy Baugh. We've had players that have played against Curly Lambeau and even players that also set the school boy record for touchdowns scored in a career in the entire state of Texas in the mid 1950's as well. We certainly do not carry the accolades that Longview Lobo Football does, but we do have players and records that we are very proud of.

We also did make it to the State Semifinals in 2004 and we were also ranked as the number one team in the state in Class 3A prior to the 1999 football season following our State Quarterfinal appearance before then, buy that was a very long time ago and we have now gone from 3A, to 4A, to 5A and just about three years ago was our first season in Class 6A football. So, including 3A, through 6A is 4 classification changes due to our rapid growth since 2011.  Our growing pains are evident and hopefully it is time for the Bulldogs to settle into a classification, at least long enough to catch up to the competition level of the teams in this district. Forney even saw how difficult it is to change from 5A to 6A, after their State Semifinal season just last year, however what is truly amazing, is that Longview will likely be the District Champion in their first season back in 6A football.

We are having an off year, even for our standards, which this will be only our second season without making the playoffs. Longview is the clear-cut favorite to win this game, and we wish the Longview Lobos the best of luck in the playoffs.  We highly encourage anyone from District 10-6A to pull for the Lobos in the playoff race. The Lobos make this district one of the best in the state and holding North Forney to no points scored last night, was incredible to say the least, not to mention that they also beat the Falcons by 21 points!

This Friday night, we welcome the Lobos and hopefully, everyone will play with a competitive spirit, with the best of sportsmanship and that everyone will come out of this game injury free. Also, to our East Texas neighbors, please drive carefully coming to Royse City and traveling back home! We hope you enjoy our improvements to our stadium...so far...much more coming soon, but we are proud of our school district and our facilities. (P.S. The next door 'Buckees' awaits you! LOL!)

My bad on the 2010, skimmed over it when updated from my template.

32 playoff appearances means 32 years of making the playoffs.

Looks like y'all have played 52 total playoff games, with the officially records showing 24-27-1 as the playoff record.

Am always excited to see Longview play new teams. No doubt Royse City is down right now, a lot due to just the growth in such a small amount of time.

@micotrav has there been any talk of a new stadium to increase capacity? Or even a new HS like the route Forney went?

Congats to the Lobos...  You may be the smallest 6A school in the state, but you are giants in Texas high school football !!!1

Impressive in itself! Most consistent teams in the state! No matter the classification!

Why does King only call deep passes? Why doesn't he try little slant routes or swing passes? They'll win this week and maybe Bi-district but come week two of the playoffs they'll get bounced. I feel like Longview is 7-2 because the district is down this year.

I don't think QB is good on a short pass.  Maybe not great on any passes tbh.  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct but I would much rather take my chances with him on short passes than the bombs downfield.

Call me optimistic but we gonna have that  og lobo magic  and upset Lancaster round 2! Mark it! , no back tracking "Lancaster  wasn't that good as thought "

I mean, at the end of the day, they're a below .500 football team right now.

I'll be interested to see how real Harker Heights is this week and next.

They've had a good season thus far, but again going up against that 11-6A district is a beast for anyone in R2.

"UPSET" Longview is the district champion and Lancaster is the fourth seed. Make it make sense.

Well, their district has DeSoto and Duncanville, two teams who won state last year and who are elite. Even third/fourth place in that district would win our district, or come in 2nd.
