StingEmALTO
The Alto Yellowjackets will host the Mount Enterprise Wildcats in a WINNER-ADVANCES-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS District 11-2A D2 competition this THURSDAY; kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. and the loser starts basketball season (game has been moved to Thursday because of potential bad weather). The Jackets will be celebrating Senior Night! Alto had a bye last week while the Wildcats lost to Overton in an overtime thriller 45-44. Alto is averaging 31 points per game while allowing 21 PPG. Mount Enterprise is averaging 38 points per game while allowing 28 PPG. This will be the 5th meeting of the Jackets and the Wildcats with Alto leading the series 3-1. Mount Enterprise won last year's meeting 54-28. The Mount Enterprise Wildcats are coached by third-year AD/HFC Scott Ponder. The Wildcats return 19 lettermen with 6 lost to graduation; they return 10 offensive and 10 defensive starters from a 5-5 bi-district finalist (3-2 district) 2023 squad. Dave Campbell's Texas Football picked the Wildcats to finish second in District 11-2A D2 behind Lovelady, and ahead of Overton, Tenaha, Grapeland, Alto and Cushing. BlackandGoldalum
Mt E will be tough especially with the RB back , I saw Overton came back on them down 30-8 though so Alto needs to be ready and focused .

Ronster23
I think this one is too close to call...but giving a slight edge to Mount Enterprise. If Alto can control their running game, then Alto has the balanced offense to beat them. Edited November 4 by Ronster23

That’s a good question. I’ll have to do a little research on the D1 players because there have been a few. Steve Lofton for sure in the NFL. He played for the Cardinals. StingEmALTO
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL Alto, Brook Hill must win Friday to make playoffs BY JAY NEAL SPORTS@JACKSONVILLEPROGRESS. COM Ten weeks of high school football are in the books, with two area teams, the Alto Yellowjackets and the Brook Hill Guard, being in must-win situations, in order to join Troup in postseason play next week. And, Rusk and Bullard have not been mathematically eliminated at this point, either. In games played last Friday, Jacksonville (1-9, 0-6) saw its season come to an end after falling, 48-7, to No. 3-ranked Texarkana-Texas High (9-0, 5-0); Carthage (8-1, 4-0) flogged Rusk (2-7, 1-3), 49-7; Bullard (2-7, 1-3) was upset by Brownsboro (1-8, 1-3); 31-30, and Brook Hill (5-4, 3-2) leveled Dallas-Bishop Dunne (0-9, 0-5), 41-6. Troup and Alto had open dates last week. Troup (6-3, 4-1) closes out the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday by entertaining the Bison from Buffalo (1-8, 0-5). Troup will be the runner-up in District 11-3A-II when the playoffs get under way, regardless of the outcome of Friday’s game. In District 11-3A-II, Alto and Mount Enterprise both own 6-3, 2-3 records and are tied for fourth place in the league standings. The Wildcats are scheduled to visit the Yellowjackets at 7 p.m. Friday, with the winner of that game moving on to the playoffs. The Jackets have been outscored by 59 points by their district rivals, while the Wildcats’ district foes have outscored them by 75 points. Brook Hill (5-4, 3-2) and Austin-Brentwood Christian (5-4, 2-3) are in must-win-to-get-in spots as well, and are slated to face off at 7 p.m. Friday at Herrington Stadium-Young Field in Bullard. The Guard have outscored the other district teams by 33 points while Brentwood Christian has scored seven points more than the league outfits that it has faced. Rusk, Bullard and Brownsboro all sit at 1-3 in the District 8-4A-II standings. One of the three will represent the circuit as the fourth place team in the postseason. Rusk will visit Center (2-2), Bullard will host Athens (3-1) and Brownsboro will trek to top-ranked Carthage Friday evening. If either Rusk, Bullard or Brownsboro win Friday, they would advance to postseason play, as long as the remaining-two teams lose. https://jacksonvilleprogress-cnhi.newsmemory.com/?token=c57a653fdae1849e85dd3976c4b39da0_672a4f21_315c Edited November 5 by StingEmALTO
StingEmALTO
FYI: Our game has been moved to Thursday night; kickoff is still 7:00. Friday's forecast is stormy so the coaches agreed to move it to tomorrow and the officials could make that work. Sooooooooo..........GAME DAY EVE! StingEmALTO
HS Football Previews – Week 11 By Jay Neal [email protected] Mount Enterprise Wildcats (6-3, 2-3) at Alto Yellowjackets (6-3, 2-3) 7 p.m. Friday at Cam’Ron Matthews Field at Jacket Stadium: Home of The Mean Sting in Alto Head Coaches: Scott Ponder, Mt. Enterprise; Brock Grigsby, Alto Last Week: Overton 45, Mt. Enterprise 44; Alto had an open date. Game Analysis: The winner of this game earns the final playoff spot out of District 11-2A-II. No secret here; Alto must control the damage the Wildcat ground attack is able to do. ME’s Kaegan Ash has rushed for more than 1,200 yards this year and averages a hefty 9.1 yards per carry while Aadin Alsup has rushed for over 1,000 yards and is averaging just north of eight yards a trip. Alto passing game has had a lot of success this season as quarterback Camdyn Almond has thrown for 1,743 yards and 19 touchdowns. Tim Bond has caught 40 passes for 902 yards and has scored nine touchdowns. A rock-solid combination that the Wildcats will have to account for. https://www.jacksonvilleprogress.com/sports/high-school-football-previews-week-11/article_ab8b5398-9c6d-11ef-b153-afafcec244e5.html Edited November 7 by StingEmALTO
