W11: San Augustine (4-5 | 1-3) vs. Timpson (4-4 | 2-2)

Recommended Posts

TLDR The Wolf Pack seniors have one more game at home, and it’ll be the most impactful game of their high school careers. They’ll have a chance to have a .500 season for the first time and to finally taste the playoffs (with a little help). Kickoff will be at 7:30 11/8 in San Augustine, TX against last years 2A state champion Timpson Bears.

History The Wolves hold the overall matchup advantage with 27 wins to the Bears 17, with the teams only tying once. I’ve put the last 15 games to keep the thread short. Not a lot of animosity between these teams, other than 2018’s “Timpson Burrs Babe” Walmart video 😂. I expect a clean game from both sides.

1992 !Timpson 49-24 BID

Story Both teams are likely feeling like this year should’ve went quite different. Timpson, coming off a state championship, definitely would’ve wanted to establish that they were still the top team. SA, as we’ve all seen, were expecting this to be the year where the potential boomed.

The Bears may be sitting even in the records but they’ve played competitive football every week. Since district started they haven’t lost a game by more than 3 points. It’s arguable if they have the most dynamic runner, but SR JJ Garner will most definitely be looking to leave a mark on the final regular season game.

The Wolves are coming off a dominant win against Hemphill, JR Tymorian Cartwright had one of his dominant days on the ground. And the returning SO D’Adrian Renfro also lent a hand in the outcome. SA’s defense has consistently been quite good, probably the 2nd best behind Garrison.

Extras I don’t believe the game will be streamed other than on Hudl. Also GO BULLDOGS!!

I agree. Conventional wisdom says Timpson, but if they make mistakes and leave opportunities for SA, they definitely have the weapons to make them pay for it.

Their defense is not that good.  Hopefully SA can play more disciplined and come out with a win.

I’m hearing folks say #8 for Timpson may be out this game…. If so then I’m leaning towards SA winning and making playoffs and Bears would be staying home

8 has been at practice the past two days..
