Van travels to Hawk Stadium this Friday for a 7 p.m kickoff

Van held Gilmer to 3 points in the second half of their matchup, I believe. However, Gilmer did pull out the 31-23 win.

Many have said PG didn't impress them... and I can see some truth to that. However, it's been something special to watch when PG hits that next gear when they've needed to. I don't think PG will take them lightly. Chances for an upset?

I think Van keeps it close in first half, but PG pulls away in the 4th to win by 10.  But if PG makes several mistakes Van is capable of an upset.  Underrated game in East Texas for sure.

You've seen both teams play Spring Hill and you think PG by 10... interesting

Yes.  SH was within one of Van 17-16 midway through the 3rd.

PG should win, but have to limit penalties and be on the positive side of the turnover battle. Van is a good team, that is well coached. Hope PG QB plays well, he’s had some good and bad games, but seems to be getting better the last few weeks. PG Defense is hitting on all cylinders, probably one of the best D’s PG has had since 2017. I’m thinking something like 28-14 PG.

True PG has a very good defense speed everywhere just need to limit mistakes they should win!

I'm not sure how these teams will match up. PG is favored for good reason, but Van will pop you in the mouth until the final second so it could be a good game. Vandals will need to limit turnovers and play mistake free. Really a tossup to me.

Both are quality teams. I think most people are giving the nod to PG due to recent history of success. It would not surprise me for this to be a low scoring game. Being at PG helps the Hawks but Van is certainly capable of winning this game.

Man I’m seeing some interesting takes on this game.  I just don’t see this being close.   PG 35 Van 14

Van needs a few things to go their way.  But they have just enough to make it interesting.

If Vans defense can stop a not very good PG offense, they can make a 4 quarter game.

C&C - “not very good PG offense” is probably a little strong wording don’t you think?  They put up 27 on Gilmer and 31 on Kilgore.

I don't either. Hope springs eternal for the Vandals.

How you guys feeling about this game Van?

Feel like if PG hadn't beat Gilmer there would be a lot more chatter

Yes, if Gilmer had beat PG there probably would be more chatter. This still just "almost" has the feel of 4 or 5 years ago when Van was thrust into the district of doom with Carthage, Kilgore, Henderson and CHill. All the chatter then was Van couldn't compete with the big boys then went on to beat everyone except Carthage to take 2nd in district. I'm not saying that the Vandals will beat the Hawks, just that they are certainly capable.
